Telerehabilitation during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Patients and Physical Therapists ’ Experiences
Conclusion: The patients as well as the PTs were generally satisfied with their telerehabilitation experiences. Using telerehabilitation in Kuwait was favoured as an adjunct method during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with extensive training, optimal allocation of resources, and the development of local guidelines, telerehabilitation would become an effective mean for the health delivery system in Kuwait. Evaluation of Aortic Elasticity Parameters in Survivors of COVID-19 Using Echocardiography Imaging
This study compared arterial stiffness between the survivors of COVID-19 and those without a history of COVID-19 infection. The difference in aortic diameter was examined using echocardiography. Results: The study included 50 patients who survived COVID-19 in the last 3 to 6 months and 50 age- and gender-matched healthy volunteers. In surviving COVID-19 patients, aortic diastolic diameter in cm ([3.1 ±0.2] vs. [2.9±0.1], p (Source: Medical Principles and Practice)

The Gut in Heart Failure: Current Knowledge and Novel Frontiers
Heart failure (HF) represents a major health problem affecting million people worldwide. In the latest years, many efforts have been made to search more effective strategies to prevent and modify the course of disease, but results are still not satisfying. HF represents a complex clinical syndrome involving many other systems, including the gastrointestinal one. Although the relationship between gut and HF is far from being fully understood, based on recent evidences highlighting the putative role of gastrointestinal system in different cardiovascular diseases, it is conceivable that the link gut-heart may represent the b...

Red Cell Distribution Width is independently associated with Mortality in Sepsis
Background: Mortality in sepsis remains high. Studies in small cohorts have shown that red cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with mortality. The aim of this study was to validate these findings in a large multi-centre cohort. Methods: We conducted this retrospective analysis of the multi-center eICU Collaborative Research Database in 16,423 septic patients. We split the cohort in patients with low (≤15%; n=7,129) and high (>15%; n=9,294) RDW. Univariable and multivariable multilevel logistic regression were used to fit regression models for the binary primary outcome of hospital mortality and the secondary ou...

Risk Factors for Surgery in Pediatric Patients with Crohn ’s Disease
I Objective: Pediatric Crohn ’s disease has a more aggressive phenotype and course than in adults. Many patients develop complications that require surgery. The aim of this study was to identify the factors associated with increased risk for surgical intervention in pediatric patients with Crohn’s disease. Subjects and Meth ods: Retrospective review of medical records. We analyzed the following variables: sex, age at diagnosis, presenting symptoms, duration of symptoms before diagnosis, disease location and severity, presence of extraintestinal manifestations and presence of anti Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies. U...
