In-vitro Post-antifungal Effect of Posaconazole and its Impact on Adhesion related Traits and Hemolysin Production of Oral Candida dubliniensis Isolates
Objective: Candidal adherence to denture acrylic surfaces (DAS) and oral buccal epithelial cells (BEC), formation of candidal germ tubes (GT), candidal cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH) and hemolysin production are important pathogenic traits of Candida. Antifungal drug-induced post-antifungal effect (PAFE) also impact the virulence of Candida. Candida dubliniensis isolates are associated with the causation of oral candidiasis which could be managed with posaconazole. Thus far there is no evidence on posaconazole-induced PAFE and its impact on adhesion-related attributes and production of hemolysin by C. dubliniensis. Henc...

Added Value of Contrast Medium in Whole-Body Hybrid PET/MRI: Comparison Between Contrast-Enhanced and Non-Contrast-Enhanced Protocols
Objective: To compare the diagnostic ability and time efficiency of contrast-enhanced (CE) whole body FDG PET/MRI protocol and non-contrast-enhanced (NCE) protocol. Subjects and Methods: Ninety-three patients with known primary tumors underwent whole-body hybrid FDG PET/MRI during the follow-up of their malignancies with the use of NCE and CE protocols. The NCE PET/MRI protocol consisted of diffusion-weighted (b = 0 s/mm2 and 800 s/mm2) and T1-weighted Turbo Flash in the axial plane and T2-weighted HASTE sequence in the coronal planes ( ∑ = 25 minutes). The CE PET/MRI protocol was performed by acquiring axial serial CE 3...

Serum Adropin Levels Are Reduced in Adult Patients with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Conclusion: We observed a decrease in serum adropin levels among adult patients with NAFLD. We also found lower levels of serum adropin in patients with insulin resistance, supporting previous data in the literature. Studies investigating the association of adropin levels with other inflammatory parameters are warranted to define its exact role in the pathogenesis of hepatosteatosis.Med Princ Pract (Source: Medical Principles and Practice)

Occlusal Caries Detection and Diagnosis Using Visual ICDAS Criteria, Laser Fluorescence Measurements and Near- İnfrared Light Transillumination Images
Objective: Current diagnostic tools for non-cavitated occlusal caries are not very reliable. For this reason, newer systems need to be developed. The aim of this study was to compare the performance of visual inspection (ICDAS-II), laser fluorescence (DIAGNOdent pen), and near-infrared transillumination technique (DIAGNOcam) in the detection of non-cavitated occlusal caries lesions under clinical and laboratory conditions in 90 third molar teeth planned for extraction. Materials and methods: Ninety third molar teeth were firstly examined in clinical conditions, scored according to ICDAS II criteria and examined with DIAGNO...
