Simultaneous detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and atypical mycobacteria by DNA-Microarray in Egypt
This study documents the presence of certain species of atypical mycobacteria among immunocompromised patients in Egypt. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first detection of M. peregenium among clinical specimen in Egypt. (Source: Medical Principles and Practice)

Poor nutritional status is associated with arrhythmic events on 24 hour holter recording
This study is retrospective analysis of 477 patients who underwent 24 hour ECG holter monitoring. PNI and CONUT score were calculated and patients were divided into tertiles according to PNI and into three groups according to CONUT score; 0: normal, 1-2: mild risk of malnutrition, ≥3: moderate-severe risk of malnutrition. Arrhythmic events were compared between PNI tertiles and CONUT score groups. Results: Total number of premature atrial contractions (PACs), premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), PVC burden and incidence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) were hig her in patients within the lowest PNI tertile (...

Evaluating the Initiation of Sodium/Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors within Two Weeks of an Acute Hospital Admission: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Nine Clinical Trials
Conclusion: There was no increased harm with SGLT2i initiation within two weeks of an acute hospital admission, and its use reduced the relative risk of rehospitalizations for heart failure in patients with heart failure . It was also associated with increased urine output and plasma sodium. However, current evidence pool is limited, especially in specific population subtypes. (Source: Medical Principles and Practice)

Reference genes for qPCR-based miRNA expression profiling in 14 human tissues
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are promising biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases. Quantitative PCR is the most frequently used method of measuring miRNA expression levels. However, the lack of validated reference genes represents the main source of potential bias in results. It is normal practice to use small nuclear RNAs as reference genes; however, they often have variable expression. Researchers tend to prefer the most stable reference genes in each experiment. The review includes reference genes for the following tissue types: gliomas, lung cancer, melanoma, gastric cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer,...
