New mouse model of underactive bladder developed by placement of a metal ring around the bladder neck
ConclusionsWe successfully established a novel mouse model of UAB using surgery to place a silver jump ring loosely on the bladder neck. BOO initially induced bladder overactivity but subsequently resulted in UAB due to deterioration of detrusor smooth muscle contractility and progressive deposition of collagen in the bladder wall. Is medicinal ketamine associated with urinary dysfunction issues? Assessment of both the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UK Yellow Card Scheme pharmacovigilance database ‐related reports
ConclusionsCurrent data may only represent a gross underestimate of the KIU real prevalence issues. It is here suggested that chronic treatment involving higher doses/repeated exposure to ketamine be restricted to the context of controlled trials or clinical audits. Prevalence of xerostomia with or without overactive bladder symptoms
This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of xerostomia with or without overactive bladder symptoms. A web ‐based questionnaire was administered to investigate the prevalence of xerostomia with or without overactive bladder symptoms. The survey included questions concerning age, gender, medical history, medications, OAB symptoms by the Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS), and xerostomia by the Dry Mouth Scale (DMS). From the analysis, a total of 21 (13.0%) participants were identified as having OAB. The prevalence of xerostomia was six (28.6%) in the OAB group and 14 (10.0%) in the non‐OAB group. OABSS and DM...

The risk factors for recurrence of febrile urinary tract infection and renal scarring in children with functional urinary incontinence
ConclusionsThe present study suggests that low compliance, severe VUR, and dysfunctional voiding, but not the recurrence of febrile UTI, are the independent risk factors for renal scarring in children with functional incontinence, and decreased bladder capacity is the risk factor for the recurrence of febrile UTI.
