Does tamsulosin or mirabegron improve ureteral stent ‐related symptoms? A prospective placebo‐controlled study
ConclusionsTamsulosin improves only urinary symptoms due to the ureteral stent and decreases the need for analgesics. Mirabegron has no effect on ureteral stent ‐related symptoms, but it decreases analgesic need. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Sodium plays an important role in the absorption of intravesical fluid
ConclusionsThe presence of sodium is important for the absorption of intravesical fluid through aquaporin ‐2 in the urinary bladders of rats. Claudin‐3 and ‐6 may be associated with the transport of sodium through the bladder urothelium. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

EP2 and EP3 receptors as therapeutic targets for underactive bladder/detrusor underactivity due to diabetic cystopathy in a type 1 diabetic rat model
ConclusionThe present study was unable to demonstrate that stimulation of EP2 and EP3 receptors caused major improvements in UAB/DU due to DC. However, this equivocal result could arise from inherent limitations of the STZ ‐induced diabetic rat as a UAB/DU model. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Correlation between lumbar skeletal muscle size and urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy
ConclusionsPatients with RSMS had a lower urinary quality of life compared with non ‐RSMS patients after robot‐assisted radical prostatectomy, and RSMS, independent of age or BMI, was predictive of postoperative urinary incontinence. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

How do urinary incontinence types affect sexual function and quality of life for Turkish women?
ConclusionThe sexual function of women with MUI was affected more adversely than the other UI subtypes. There was no statistically significant difference between the UI subtypes according to IIQ ‐7 scores, but when we examined the scores, MUI and UUI were found to have more negative effects on QoL. Clinicians and continence nurses should make routine evaluations of sexual function and QoL for women according to UI subtypes. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Contemporary use of prescription medications for neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction
ConclusionsThis is the first study to analyze the use of medical therapy for NLUTD in a large outpatient setting. Further prospective evaluation of patient satisfaction and efficacy of both single anticholinergic medication and dual therapy is needed. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Longitudinal changes in patient ‐reported outcomes after artificial urinary sphincter implantation
ConclusionContinence status and QOL score markedly improved by AUS implantation immediately, but deteriorated over time. Improved LUTS were maintained without a worsening trend, however. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Our experiences in bipolar radiofrequency thermotherapy system as an alternative treatment in LUTS
In this study we found there was 48.8% increase in Qmax, 72.1% decrease in IPSS, 70.8% decrease in the QoL score, 51.1% decrease in PVR of 80 patients who underwent bipolar radiofrequency prostate ablation. The bipolar radiofrequency prostate thermotherapy system can be safely applied as an outpatient treatment in high‐risk cases or for those who are anxious about surgical interventions. The prevalence of urinary incontinence in men and women aged 40  years or over in China, Taiwan and South Korea: A cross‐sectional, prevalence‐based study
ConclusionUI was associated with substantial problems, including an adverse impact on HRQoL. Medication failed to satisfy many individuals with UI. Efforts to educate the public and physicians about the impact of UI could improve diagnosis and treatment rates. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Lower urinary tract symptoms and related factors in female university students
ConclusionsLower urinary tract complaints are a common problem. We believe that routine medical screening should be performed for female university students whose living conditions change when they start university; besides, we suggest that well ‐attended and repeatable training programs for healthy living behaviors, urinary habits, and hygiene should be organized for university students. Current management of refractory overactive bladder
AbstractOveractive bladder (OAB) is a common condition affecting one ‐sixth to one‐fifth of the global population. The treatment of refractory OAB remains a challenge for urologists. Current treatment options include the use of combination therapy with antimuscarinic agents and beta‐3 adrenoceptor agonists, and treating underlying curable disorders. Intravesica l botulinum toxin type A (BoNT‐A) injection, percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, and sacral nerve stimulation are third‐line management therapies suggested by the American Urological Association/Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine& Urogenital...

Therapeutic effects of Choreito, a traditional Japanese (Kampo) medicine, on detrusor overactivity induced by acetic acid in rats
This study aimed to identify the effects and therapeutic mechanism of CRT on the improvement of detrusor overactivity (DO) using an experimental rat model. Forty ‐five female Sprague‐Dawley rats were equally divided into three groups: intravesical saline instillation with normal food (normal group), intravesical acetic acid (AA) instillation with normal food (AA group), and intravesical AA instillation with CRT (AA with CRT group). To induce a decrease i n bladder capacity, instillation of 0.2% AA was used based on prior studies. Cystometric investigation was employed to clarify the effects of AA and CRT. Microcirculat...
