Trigonal ‐sparing versus trigonal‐involved Botox injection for treatment of idiopathic overactive bladder: A randomized clinical trial
ConclusionTrigone injections are not superior to trigone ‐sparing injections. On the contrary, the incidence of UTI and voiding difficulty were higher. The concept of reflux induced by trigonal injection has not been proven. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

The pretreatment of rats with nebivolol ameliorates bladder contractile dysfunction caused by ischemia ‐reperfusion injury
ConclusionsThe present study indicates that pretreatment of rats with nebivolol (0.4  mg/kg) could improve bladder contractile dysfunction caused by IR injury through suppression of increased oxidative stress and IL‐6 levels. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Bladder neck and urethral erosions after Macroplastique injections
ConclusionMPQ erosions present predominantly with UTI, sometimes years after the original injection, and may necessitate endoscopic management with satisfactory results in most patients. Following excision of MPQ, these patients are highly likely to experience SUI recurrence and need to be appropriately counseled. Some may require additional subsequent autologous fascial sling placement for treatment of their SUI symptoms. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Sodium plays an important role in the absorption of intravesical fluid
ConclusionsThe presence of sodium is important for the absorption of intravesical fluid through aquaporin ‐2 in the urinary bladders of rats. Claudin‐3 and ‐6 may be associated with the transport of sodium through the bladder urothelium. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

The risk factors for recurrence of febrile urinary tract infection and renal scarring in children with functional urinary incontinence
ConclusionsThe present study suggests that low compliance, severe VUR, and dysfunctional voiding, but not the recurrence of febrile UTI, are the independent risk factors for renal scarring in children with functional incontinence, and decreased bladder capacity is the risk factor for the recurrence of febrile UTI. Association of intrinsic sphincter deficiency with urine flow acceleration measurement
ConclusionThe Valsalva leak point pressure and maximum urethral closure pressure measurements in assessing urethral function are not useful for predicting incontinence surgery failure. We demonstrated that Qacc is higher in ISD stress incontinent women than stress incontinent women. Qacc may demonstrate urethral resistance and tonus in a more reliable manner. Vanilla scent reduces frequency of urination in urethane ‐anesthetized rats
ConclusionsVanilla scent decreased serum catecholamine levels and urination frequency in rats under light urethane anesthesia. These results suggest that the scent of vanilla may reduce nocturia. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Development of a core data set for pelvic floor disorder patients registry
ConclusionsThis dataset has the potential for standardizing the data by providing accurate, consistent, complete and uniform data elements. Furthermore, it can provide valuable research facilities for clinicians and researchers in the healthcare system resulting in improvement of the quality of care and containment of costs. Clinical characterization of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome in women based on the presence or absence of Hunner lesions and glomerulations
ConclusionsThe presence of HL is associated with distinctive clinical characteristics, while glomerulations are not in female patients with IC/BPS. The presence of HL, but not glomerulations, is a robust phenotypic feature of IC/BPS in women. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis in contemporary UK practice: Outcomes of phenotype ‐directed management
ConclusionsThe presence of HLD in patients with BPS/IC is not uncommon. Pelvic imaging rarely identifies any cause for pain and so cystoscopy under anesthesia is essential for accurate phenotyping. Phenotype ‐directed management with holmium laser ablation to Hunner lesions has good short‐term efficacy in improving pain, but re‐intervention is often required. Intralesional steroid injection combined with bladder neck incision is efficacious in the treatment of recurrent bladder neck contracture
ConclusionsBNI combined with injection of intralesional steroids is a simple, cost ‐effective intervention which requires no specialist equipment/skills outside the realm of a general urologist. It is safe and has an excellent success rate. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

Variability of post ‐void residual urine volume and bladder voiding efficiency in patients with underactive bladder
ConclusionsMeasurement of PVR was unreliable because of wide variation in the same individual. The variation of BVE was much smaller than PVR. BVE would be a reliable parameter with good reproducibility for the assessment of emptying function. (Source: LUTS: Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms)

GreenLight HPS laser 120  W vs diode laser 300 W vaporization of the prostate for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in Japanese patients: A prospective, single‐center, randomized clinical trial
ConclusionsBoth laser systems provided comparable improvement in the subjective and objective parameters with excellent hemostatic properties. Although our results suggest that both procedures are useful treatment choices, further follow ‐up is needed to draw definitive conclusions regarding the most ideal laser for treating patients with symptomatic BPH.
