Detection of extracellular hemoglobin from Arenicola marina in doping control serum samples by means of liquid chromatography and high ‐resolution tandem mass spectrometry
In this study, lugworm Hb was implemented into an existing doping control routine method for the detection of bovine hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) from serum by using ultrafiltration, tryptic digestion, and liquid chromatography interfaced with high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS/MS). Study of metabolism and potential toxicity of nine synthetic opioid analogs using the zebrafish larvae model
In this study, the toxicological effects of a panel of nine different new synthetic opioids were assessed, in vivo, using the zebrafish embryo. All the tested compounds were found to cause toxic effects. High rates of morphological abnormalities and an increase in cell death were observed in larvae treated with the studied compounds. The metabolic study showed that the studied drugs are metabolized when exposed to zebrafish embryos by similar pathways to those in humans. In vitro cannabinoid activity profiling of generic ban ‐evading brominated synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists and their analogs
This study investigated the cannabinoid receptor (CB) activation potential of synthesized (S)-enantiomers of these substances, as well as of two predicted analogs MDMB-5 ′Br-BUTINACA (MDMB-B-5Br-INACA) and ADB-5′F-BUTINACA (ADMB-B-5F-INACA), using CB1 and CB2β-arrestin 2 recruitment assays and a CB1 intracellular calcium release assay. Surprisingly, the tail-less (S)-ADB-5 ′Br-INACA and (S)-MDMB-5 ′Br-INACA retained CB activity, albeit with a decreased potency compared to their tailed counterparts (S)-ADB-5 ′Br-BUTINACA and (S)-MDMB-5 ′Br-BUTINACA, respectively, which were potent and efficacious CB1 agonists. ...

New long ‐standing metabolites of 17α‐methyltestosterone are detected in HepG2 cell in vitro metabolic model and in human urine
Novel fully A-ring-reduced metabolites of methyltestosterone were predicted and synthesized on a microscale. Their GC-MS/(MS) behavior was studied to develop a targeted detection method. Targeted analysis of methyltestosterone HepG2 cell incubation supernatants and post-administration urine samples confirmed the presence of these novel methyltestosterone metabolites in both matrices. Evaluation of their human urine post-administration excretion profiles revealed that some of them could be used as additional long-term metabolites for the monitoring of methyltestosterone in the frame of doping control.
