Effectiveness of Emollients in the Prevention of Atopic Dermatitis in Infants: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: We found that the difference in incidence rate of AD between the experimental and control groups was not statistically significant. However, due to different methods of using emollients, different follow-up times and different sample sizes included in this meta-analysis, a definitive conclusion could not be reached in this study. In the future, it is still necessary to carry out randomized controlled, multicenter, large-sample trials with an excellent study design and high methodological quality on early application of emollients in high-risk infants to prevent AD.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Evaluation of Psoriasis Area and Severity Index Thresholds as Proxies for Systemic Inflammation on an Individual Patient Level
Conclusion: Specific PASI thresholds were not well suited to predict elevated biomarkers of systemic inflammation and cardiovascular risk on an individual patient level. Therefore, PASI, and possibly other purely cutaneous measures, may not be ideal as stand-alone parameters to define disease severity and eligibility for systemic treatment. Our results are relevant for the ongoing discussion on the definition of psoriasis severity and eligibility for systemic treatment. Further research addressing the added value of a set of biomarkers of systemic inflammation in the assessment of psoriasis severity would be desirable.Derm...

Burn Hemangioma: A New Variant of Hemangioma
Conclusion: Burn hemangioma should be considered a new variant of hemangioma rather than a type of pyogenic granuloma that follows second-degree burns. They have many similarities with infantile hemangioma, both clinically and histopathologically.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Brodalumab Is Associated with High Rates of Complete Clearance and Quality of Life Improvement: A Subgroup Analysis of Patients with Psoriasis and Concomitant Psoriatic Arthritis
Conclusions: Treatment with brodalumab rapidly results in high levels of complete and sustained skin clearance and greater cumulative treatment benefit in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis versus ustekinumab, regardless of concomitant PsA status.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Excision Margin and Survival in Patients with High-Risk, Primary Cutaneous Melanoma: A Retrospective Study Based on Surveillance Epidemiology and End Result (SEER) Database
Conclusions: Wider excision margin greater than 2 cm did not provide any additional therapeutic benefits compared to narrow excision margin between 1 and 2 cm. A 2-cm margin is adequate and safe for high-risk primary melanoma of the skin thicker than 2 mm.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Effective and Safe Treatment of Psoriatic Disease with the Anti-IL-23p19 Biologic Tildrakizumab: Results of a Real-World Prospective Cohort Study in Nonselected Patients
Conclusions: Patients treated in routine practice with tildrakizumab differed substantially from the phase 3 studies. Despite systemic pre-treatment and increased comorbidity, tildrakizumab showed comparable efficacy and safety in the KTC. Prospective cohort studies are a suitable tool to generate RWE before registry data become available.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Predicting Severe Renal and Gastrointestinal Involvement in Childhood Immunoglobulin A Vasculitis with Routine Laboratory Parameters
Conclusion: Our data suggest C3 to be an exclusive predictor for severe renal involvement and D-dimer level to be positively associated with the severity of GI involvement. Prediction models consisting of the above parameters were built for obtaining prognostic information in the early phase of IgAV.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Pyoderma Gangrenosum and Interleukin Inhibitors: A Semi-Systematic Review
Background: Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare ulcerating skin disease associated with multiple comorbidities and increased mortality. In recent decades, newer biologics such as interleukin inhibitors have been used to treat PG; however, the literature is scarce, consisting predominantly of case reports and caseseries. The aim of our review was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of interleukin inhibitors for the treatment of PG in adults.Summary: A literature search was conducted using search terms related to PG and interleukin inhibitors in databases such as PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Libr...

Therapeutic Impact and Management of Persistent Head and Neck Atopic Dermatitis in Dupilumab-Treated Patients
Conclusion: AD localization in exposed areas at the baseline and AD persistency at the head/neck may have a negative impact on certain treatment response parameters to dupilumab therapy.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Drug Adherence and Persistence of Patients with Moderate to Severe Psoriasis Treated with Biologic Medications in a US Commercially Insured Population
Conclusions: In this large healthcare claims database analysis of psoriasis patients treated with seven different biologic medications, adherence was numerically higher among those treated with UST or GUS. UST and GUS were also associated with numerically greater persistence.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Should Targeted Therapy Be Continued in BRAF-Mutant Melanoma Patients after Complete Remission?
Conclusions: This real-life study provided long-term data in patients who discontinued targeted therapy after CR. Most patients experienced a relapse in the first year after targeted therapy discontinuation, of whom 50% were in the first 3 months. After targeted therapy resumption, 53% of relapsing patients achieved an objective response. Patients should be followed during the first year after treatment discontinuation. In addition, patients with less than 3 metastatic sites, a baseline LDH level with normal ranges, men, and patients responding rapidly to treatment would be more likely to maintain a CR after treatment disc...
