Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis: clinical characteristics, pathogenesis and management
Background: Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a potentially severe adverse cutaneous drug reaction, which typically occurs within 24-48 hours after the intake of the culprit drug. Summary: AGEP is characterized by numerous sterile subcorneal pustules on erythematous skin and in less than a third of cases it can be associated with organ manifestations possibly leading to life-threatening symptoms (e.g. cholestasis, nephritis, lung and bone marrow involvement). In contrast to generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) it can involve mucosal regions and typically resolves rapidly if the culprit drug is removed a...

Internalized stigma in Hidradenitis Suppurativa; A multicenter cross-sectional study
Conclusions: HS patients internalize society's negative judgements, which may create a profound negative effect on access to health care. Therefore, in addition to suppressing disease activi ty, addressing internalized stigma is fundamental for improving health care quality. (Source: Dermatology)

Intralesional corticosteroid administration in the treatment of keloids: a scoping review on injection methods
Background Intralesional corticosteroid administration (ICA) is a first-line treatment for keloids. However, its clinical results are still highly variable and often suboptimal. Treatment results may strongly be influenced by various operator dependent factors. The aim of this study is to map the details of ICA in keloids described in randomized controlled trials (RCTs), hence presenting the scientific practice of a first-line treatment for keloids in the best available evidence. Summary A systematic search was performed on PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid EMBASE and CENTRAL. Eligible studies were RCTs including patients with...

BRAF < sup > V600E < /sup > Expression Is Homogenous and Associated with Nonrecurrent Disease and Better Survival in Primary Melanoma
Conclusion: Our findings indicated that BRAFV600E is homogeneously present throughout the whole tumor and is associated with nonrecurrent disease and better survival in primary melanoma. We also showed that BRAFV600E mutation does not result in higher transcriptional levels, suggesting that activation of the MAPK signaling pathway in BRAFV600E mutated patients can be attributed to the increased biochemical activity caused by the mutation.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Reactive Neutrophilic Dermatoses in Adult-Onset Immunodeficiency due to Interferon-Gamma Autoantibody and Their Associated Factors
Conclusions: 39% of our AOID patients experienced RND once during the course of the disease. Notable factors associated with RND occurrence were concomitant NTM infection, lymphadenopathy, and lower level of ALP.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

The association between the morphology of vessels in primary cutaneous melanoma on dermoscopy, with the Breslow index, the presence of ulceration, and the dermoscopic signs of extensive regression
The objectives of this study are to study the presence and morphology of blood vessels in a series of primary melanomas and to investigate whether they are related to the Breslow index, the presence of ulceration, and extensive dermoscopic regression. METHODS This cross-sectional study included non-acral, non-facial primary melanomas, with dermoscopic images from four hospitals in Spain. The outcome variables were: the Breslow index, the presence of dermoscopic ulceration, and an extensive dermoscopic regression. The explicative variables were: the presence of vessels, the predominant vessel in the most raised area of th...

Suffering and quality of life impairment in patients with eczematous diseases: results from an observational study assessing the relevance of the involvement of two sensitive body sites, namely the face and hands
Conclusions: PRISM appeared to be more accurate in detecting the burden of eczematous diseases involving the face, probably due to the inter ception of the emotional impact, while DLQI, focusing on patient functioning, was more affected by hands involvement. Site involvement could be a criterion for selecting the best QoL assessment tool. (Source: Dermatology)

External validation of the IHS4-55 in a European antibiotic-treated HS cohort
Background: Previously, a new dichotomous outcome was developed, calculated as 55% reduction in the International Hidradenitis Suppurativa 4 score (IHS4-55). It was validated in datasets of adalimumab and placebo treated HS patients. External validation is an important aspect of clinical outcomes. Objectives: We aimed to externally validate the novel dichotomous IHS4-55 in a non-biologic treated dataset of HS patients. Methods: Data from a previously published European-wide prospective clinical study of antibiotic treatment of HS patients was used to assess the association of IHS4-55 achievement with individual reduction...

Prevalence of Vitiligo among Children and Adolescents in the United States
Conclusion: Based on the clinician-adjudicated prevalence estimates, there were more than 591,000 cases of vitiligo in children and adolescents in the US in 2020. More than two-thirds had nonsegmental vitiligo and nearly half may be undiagnosed. Future studies should confirm these findings.Dermatology (Source: Dermatology)

Risk of Atopic Diseases in Patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies
Conclusion Current evidence supported that atopic dermatitis and asthma were associated with HS. Physicians should be aware of the reported association while caring people with HS and related screening of allergies comorbidities should be recommended. (Source: Dermatology)

Saline Vehicle Increases the Ability of Drug Patch Test in Cutaneous Adverse Drug reactions
Conclusion: Appropriate vehicles is essential to obtain the positive drug patch test. Using saline as a vehicle can increase the positive reaction of drug patch test, particularly in lichenoid drug eruption. We recommend the use of saline as another traditional vehicle in drug patch test. (Source: Dermatology)

Higher prevalence of generalized pustular psoriasis in Asia? A population-based study using claim data in China and a systematic review
Conclusions: This is the largest study concerning the disease burden of GPP, and in this study, the prevalence seemed to be higher in Asia. Although the direct eco nomic burden of GPP did not seem high during the study period, the future usage of biologics and the humanistic burden should also be considered for policy-related decision-making. Different clinical features of pediatric generalized pustular psoriasis in patients with or without IL36RN variants
Conclusions: IL36RN variants are associated with GPP with ACH subtypes, an absence of concurrent PV, and a greater extent of severe inflamm ation. Acitretin was an effective treatment for patients in our study and mostly resulted in a marked response in our cohort. (Source: Dermatology)
