Growth hormone-releasing hormone antagonists counteract interferon- γ - induced barrier dysfunction in bovine and human endothelial cells
Cytokine. 2023 Nov 10;173:156416. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2023.156416. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGHRH regulates the secretion of GH from the anterior pituitary gland. An emerging body of evidence suggests that the activities of that neuropeptide are not limited to the GH/IGF-I axis, but they expand towards the mediation of inflammatory processes. GHRHAnt were developed to oppose the activities of GHRH in malignancies, and have been associated with strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects in a diverse variety of tissues, including the lungs. In the present study we report that GHRHAnt oppose interferon-γ - induc...

Association between NOS3 gene polymorphisms and genetic susceptibility to congenital heart Disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: rs1799983 (G894T) and rs7830 (G10T) polymorphic sites might play a role in the susceptibility of sporadic congenital heart disease and increase the risk of CHD. Yet, it is still necessary to expand the sample size and conduct more prospective/retrospective studies to confirm whether the rs2070744 (T-786C) polymorphism tended to increase the incidence of CHD.PMID:37952311 | DOI:10.1016/j.cyto.2023.156415 (Source: Cytokine)

Non-coding RNAs involved in fibroblast-like synoviocyte functioning in arthritis rheumatoid: From pathogenesis to therapy
Cytokine. 2023 Nov 10;173:156418. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2023.156418. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a polygenic autoimmune disorder with an uncertain etiology, primarily impacting the joints. Moreover, the disease may manifest beyond articular involvement, leading to extra-articular manifestations. Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) are cells of mesenchymal origin that possess crucial physiological significance within the synovium, contributing to the synthesis of specific constituents found in the synovial fluid and articular cartilage. Consequently, there has been a growing focus on FLS as a pot...
