Association of adiponectin and its receptor gene polymorphisms with the risk of coronary heart disease in northern Guangxi
CONCLUSIONS: APN gene of rs266729 C/G single-nucleotide loci gene mutation can significantly increase the risk of CHD. There was no significant correlation between rs1501299 G/T single-nucleotide loci and CHD in Northern Guangxi populations.PMID:38489870 | DOI:10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156567 (Source: Cytokine)

Genetic liability to elevated circulating IP-10, IFN γ and SCGFβ levels in relation to thoracic aortic aneurysm: A mendelian randomization study
In this study, we explored the relationship between circulating inflammatory factors and TAA risk using Mendelian randomization (MR) approach based on summary statistics from the latest genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 41 circulating inflammatory factors in 8293 Finns and a GWAS involving 1351 TAA cases and 18,295 controls of European ancestry. In univariable MR, higher interferon gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10) levels, higher interferon gamma (IFNγ) levels and higher stem cell growth factor beta (SCGFβ) levels were associated with an increased risk of TAA (OR = 1.37, 95 % CI = 1.17-1.59, p = 7.42 × 10-5; OR = 1...

Synthesis, characterization, and anti-inflammatory activity of tetrahydropiperine, piperic acid, and tetrahydropiperic acid via down regulation of NF- κB pathway
Cytokine. 2024 Mar 13;178:156578. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156578. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study describes the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of tetrahydropiperine (THP), piperic acid (PA), and tetrahydropiperic acid (THPA) as anti-inflammatory agents. THPA demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activity among all the compounds. The anti-inflammatory potential was investigated in both in-vitro and in-vivo experimental models. Our findings demonstrated that THPA effectively suppressed the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide and pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL...

IL-4 regulates neutrophilic pulmonary inflammation in a mouse model of bronchial asthma
Cytokine. 2024 Mar 12;178:156563. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156563. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeutrophilic pulmonary inflammation in asthmatics substantially exacerbates the severity of the disease leading to resistance to conventional corticosteroid therapy. Many studies established the involvement of Th1- and Th17-cells and cytokines produced by them (IFNg, IL-17A, IL-17F etc.) in neutrophilic pulmonary inflammation. Recent studies revealed that IL-4 - a Th2-cytokine regulates neutrophil effector functions and migration. It was showed that IL-4 substantially reduces neutrophilic inflammation of the skin in a mouse mod...

Expression of monocyte chemokine receptors in diabetes after non-surgical periodontal treatment: A pilot study
Cytokine. 2024 Mar 11;178:156579. doi: 10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156579. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of non-surgical periodontal treatment in the expression of chemokine receptors, in individuals with Periodontitis, associated or not with Diabetes. Pilot study, which included patients (n = 45) with Periodontitis, associated (n = 25) or not (n = 20) with Diabetes, submitted to the non-surgical periodontal treatment for one month. The expression of chemokine receptors CCR2, CCR5, and CX3CR1 at the mRNA level was evaluated in the peripheral mononuclear cells, as well as the express...

Pepsin-mediated inflammation in laryngopharyngeal reflux via the ROS/NLRP3/IL-1 β signaling pathway
CONCLUSION: Our findings verified that pepsin could regulate the NLRP3/IL-1β signaling pathway through ROS activation and further induce inflammatory injury in LPR. Targeting the ROS/NLRP3 inflammasome signaling pathway may help treat patients with LPR disease.PMID:38471420 | DOI:10.1016/j.cyto.2024.156568 (Source: Cytokine)
