Clonal hematopoiesis in men living with HIV and association with subclinical atherosclerosis
Conclusion: Clonal hematopoiesis was more common in PWH and among PWH was associated with the extent of coronary artery disease. Larger studies are needed to further examine the biological and clinical consequences of clonal hematopoiesis in PWH. (Source: AIDS)

High efficacy of switching to bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide in people with suppressed HIV and preexisting M184V/I
Conclusion: M184V/I was detected in 10% of virologically suppressed clinical trial participants at study baseline. Switching to B/F/TAF demonstrated durable efficacy in maintaining viral suppression, including in those with preexisting M184V/I. (Source: AIDS)

Altered adipose tissue macrophage populations in people with HIV on integrase inhibitor-containing antiretroviral therapy
We examined subcutaneous ATMs from PWH on integrase inhibitor-containing ART (n = 5) and uninfected persons (n = 9). We complemented these studies with ex vivo and in vitro analyses of peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) and murine macrophage lipid metabolism and fatty acid oxidation gene expression. Methods: ATM populations were examined by flow cytometry. Macrophage lipid metabolism and fatty acid oxidation gene expression were examined by Seahorse assay and quantitative PCR. Results: Adipose tissue from PWH had reduced populations of metabolically activated CD9+ ATMs compared to that of uninfe...

Obesity in HIV infection: host-pathogen interaction
Conclusion: Obesity is an emerging comorbidity in PWH, with a substantial overlap in immune dysregulation patterns seen in both conditions. How this immune dysfunction impacts on development of metabolic complications for both obesity and HIV infection, and whether targeting of AT-derived inflammation will improve outcomes in PWH requires further study. Determinants of antibody response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 mRNA vaccines in people with HIV
We identified determinants of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine antibody response in people with HIV (PWH). Antibody response was higher among PWH less than 60 years, with CD4+ cell count superior to 350 cells/μl and vaccinated with mRNA-1273 by Moderna compared with BNT162b2 by Pfizer-BioNTech. Preinfection with SARS-CoV-2 boosted the antibody response and smokers had an overall lower antibody response. Elderly PWH and those with low CD4+ cell count should be prioritized for booster vaccinations. (Source: AIDS)

Long-term HIV treatment outcomes and associated factors in sub-Saharan Africa: multicountry longitudinal cohort analysis
Objective: In a multicountry prospective cohort of persons with HIV from six countries between 2007 and 2015, we evaluated long-term outcomes of first-line non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor-based antiretroviral therapy (ART), and risk factors for loss-to-follow-up, mortality, virological failure, and incomplete CD4+ T-cell recovery. Methods: We calculated cumulative incidence of lost-to-follow-up, death, virological failure (VL ≥ 1000 cps/ml) and incomplete CD4+ T-cell recovery ( (Source: AIDS)
