Nitazene Overdose Deaths on the Rise —The Iron Law of Prohibition Cannot Been Repealed
Jeffrey A. SingerLast week the Tennessee Department of Healthreported that overdose deaths from synthetic opioids classified asnitazenes have increased four ‐fold between 2019 and 2021. Nitazenes, like fentanyl and its analogs, aresynthetic opioids that were originally developed to treat pain. They are anywhere from 10 to 20 times more potent than fentanyl. Researchers at the City University of Hong Kong have developed a magnetic soft millirobot that can grab and release objects, and move around by rolling. The device can be controlled using magnetic fields, and consists of a biodegradable gelatin and iron oxide microparticles.

Magnetic Microrobots Assist with Root Canal Treatment
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have developed a microrobot system that can help with biofilm disruption, drug delivery, and sample retrieval, all within the restrictive space of the root canal. It can be difficult for dentists to know if they have removed all the infectious material when performing a root canal, and failure to do so will typically result in an infection reoccurring. The space is difficult to access and disinfect properly, and so these researchers turned to microrobotics as a solution.
