Effect of gestational weight gain in a cohort of pregnancy women with obesity operated and not operated for bariatric surgery
CONCLUSIONS: insufficient and excessive weight gain worsens perinatal outcomes. Adequate weight gain does not increase complications and produces some benefits.PMID:38095073 | DOI:10.20960/nh.04639 (Source: Nutricion Hospitalaria)

Potential benefits of prenatal diagnosis of TGA in Australia may be outweighed by the adverse effects of earlier delivery: likely causation and potential solutions
Conclusion Among newborns undergoing ASO for TGA, prenatal diagnosis is associated with poorer early postoperative outcomes. In addition to minimising iatrogenic factors (such as planned births) resulting in earlier births, evaluation of other dynamics following a prenatal diagnosis which may result in poor fetal growth and earlier onset of spontaneous labour is important. Phytochemical constituents from the roots and lignotubers of < em > Rhoicissus tridentata < /em > and their < em > in vitro < /em > uterotonic activity
This study aimed to identify the uteroactive compounds in this plant. Chromatographic purification of the methanol and water extracts from the roots yielded eight compounds, i.e. morin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside, trans-resveratrol 3-O-β-glucopyranoside, a mixture of asiatic and arjunolic acids, quercetin 3-O-rhamnopyranoside, catechin, β-sitosterol, and linoleic acid. All compounds were evaluated for their uterotonic effects using uterine smooth muscle isolated from stilboestrol-primed Sprague-Dawley rats. The mixture of asiatic and arjunolic acids showed the highest activity with EC50 of 0.02129 μg/mL for amplitude. The...

Neglected massive multinodular goiter during pregnancy with dyspnea and successful normal delivery: A case report
Key Clinical MessagePrompt coordinated care enables vaginal delivery for severe goiter-induced airway compression in late pregnancy when expectant management is precluded.AbstractLong-standing neglected multinodular goiter rarely causes life-threatening airway compression in late pregnancy. Most cases report cesarean delivery to relieve respiratory distress. Vaginal birth may also be possible, but the evidence is limited. A 30-year-old woman with a 7-year goiter history developed severe dyspnea at 34  weeks gestation. Despite the risks, labor was induced by urgent decompression. She vaginally delivered a premature but he...

Monitoring gestational diabetes mellitus patients with MyDiabby Healthcare ® smartphone application vs classical diary. Results from the non-inferiority TELESUR-GDM Study
CONCLUSION: GDM glycaemic telemonitoring compared to patients with classic glycaemic monitoring by diary was not inferior in terms of maternal, fœtal, and neonatal complications. Neonatal hypoglycaemia, a life-threatening event, was significantly reduced despite the observation of more neonatal jaundice cases.PMID:38065522 | DOI:10.1016/j.diabet.2023.101502 (Source: Diabetes and Metabolism)
