Follicle development and its prediction in patients with primary ovarian insufficiency: Possible treatments and markers to maximize the ability to conceive with residual follicles
CONCLUSION: This review highlights the challenges and available interventions for achieving pregnancy using a patient's oocytes in cases of POI. We believe that a combination of currently available treatments and prediction methods is the best strategy to enable patients with POI to conceive using their own eggs. Although AMH levels may predict follicle growth, further research is necessary to improve the chances of successful follicular development and conception in patients with POI.PMID:38144239 | PMC:PMC10746865 | DOI:10.1002/rmb2.12556 (Source: Reproductive Biology)

In Vitro and In Vivo Imaging-Based Evaluation of Doxorubicin Anticancer Treatment in Combination with the Herbal Medicine Black Cohosh
In this study, we evaluated the viability and survival of BC- and DOX-treated MCF-7 cells. A preclinical model of MCF-7 xenografts was used to determine the influence of BC and DOX administration on tumor growth and metabolism. The number of apoptotic cells after incubation with both DOX and BC was significantly increased (~100%) compared to the control. Treatment with DOX altered the potential of MCF-7 cells to form colonies; however, coincubation with BC did not affect this process. In vivo, PET-CT imaging showed that combined treatment of DOX and BC induced a significant reduction in both metabolic activity (29%) and an...

Hormone replacement therapy
The importance of menopause and the short and long term effects of this have been underestimated and under discussed. With the media currently highlighting issues that affect women, it is important to understand menopause, the effects of this and how to mitigate these effects. When prescribing any drug or treatment, the risks must be properly discussed and women given as much information as possible to make an informed choice about their health. This is likely to look different for every woman who comes for a consultation as menopause and subsequent reactions to HRT are individual. (Source: Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine)

Hormone Replacement Therapy and Psoriasis Risk: A Nationwide Population-Based Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: We propose that HRT in post-menopausal women is associated with an increased likelihood of psoriasis development.PMID:38111280 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e377 (Source: Journal of Korean Medical Science)
