13. Sex Hormone Replacement Therapy and Bleeding Patterns among Adolescents and Young Adult Females with Prader-Willi Syndrome: A Retrospective Chart Review
Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) is a genetic imprinting syndrome associated with high rates of endocrinopathies such as growth hormone deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, and primary and central hypogonadism. True puberty is absent, delayed, or incomplete in many individuals with PWS, although premature adrenarche is common. The literature on hypogonadism in females with PWS is sparse and no guidelines exist for hypogonadism treatment. We aimed to characterize bleeding patterns and current practices of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in adolescent and young adult PWS females at a single center in order to inform the development...

3. 17-Year-Old with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency and Menstrual Psychosis
Menstrual psychosis is a rare disorder characterized by acute onset of psychotic symptoms of brief duration associated with the hormonal fluctuations of the menstrual cycle. The onset of menstrual psychosis has been described at various stages of the reproductive life. To our knowledge, no cases of primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and menstrual psychosis have been described. Effects of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on thyroid hormones and relationship between metabolic parameters and long-term total weight loss
ConclusionBeing the first study to predict long-term total weight loss based on preoperative HbA1c, it is significant. This finding has important implications for personalized patient management and could aid clinicians in identifying individuals who may benefit most from sleeve gastrectomy as a treatment modality. This is valuable in that it emphasizes multidisciplinary work, including the endocrinologist and dietician. (Source: Surgical Endoscopy)

Is there a special role for ovarian hormones in the pathogenesis of lobular carcinoma?
Endocrinology. 2024 Mar 29:bqae031. doi: 10.1210/endocr/bqae031. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLobular carcinoma represent the most common special histological subtype of breast cancer, with the majority classed as hormone receptor-positive. Rates of invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) in postmenopausal women have been seen to increase globally, whilst other hormone receptor-positive breast cancers proportionally have not followed the same trend. This has been linked to exposure to exogenous ovarian hormones such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Reproductive factors resulting in increased lifetime exposure to endogenous ...

Diagnosis and management of congenital hypopituitarism in children
This article presents recommendations for hormone replacement therapy for each of the respective deficient axes. Lifelong follow-up with an endocrinologist is required, including in adulthood, with multidisciplinary management for patients with syndromic forms or comorbidities. Treatment objectives include alleviating symptoms, preventing comorbidities and acute complications, and optimal social and educational integration.PMID:38538470 | DOI:10.1016/j.arcped.2024.01.003 (Source: Archives de Pediatrie)
