Primary thyroid lymphoma: a case series
ConclusionPTL is a rare disease whose diagnosis should be considered in cases of rapidly growing goitres. Timely needle biopsy in suspected cases can avoid unnecessary surgery. Systemic treatment is required, depending on the stage of the tumour. (Source: Journal of Medical Case Reports)

Genetically predicted telomere length and the risk of 11 hematological diseases: a Mendelian randomization study
CONCLUSIONS: The MR analysis revealed a positive association between genetically predicted longer TL and an increased risk of developing ALL, AML, CLL, MANTLE, and HODGKIN. This study further supports the notion that cells with longer TL have greater proliferative and mutational potential, leading to an increased risk of certain HDs.PMID:38393686 | DOI:10.18632/aging.205583 (Source: Aging)

Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 328: Initial Efficacy of the COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine Booster and Subsequent Breakthrough Omicron Variant Infection in Patients with B-Cell Non-Hodgkin & rsquo;s Lymphoma: A Single-Center Cohort Study
In this study, B-NHL was classified into two histological subtypes: aggressive lymphoma and indolent lymphoma. Next, patients were subdivided according to treatment with anticancer drugs at the start of the first vaccination. We also examined the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients who had breakthrough infections after a booster vaccination. The booster effect of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine in patients with B-NHL varied considerably depending on treatment status at the initial vaccination. In the patient group at more than 1 year after the last anticancer drug treatment, regardless of the histological subtype, ...

Case report: Sustained complete remission with all-oral MEPED therapy in a patient with Hodgkin ’s disease developing resistance to pembrolizumab
In conclusion, we demonstrate for the first time that MEPED therapy is highly effective in a patient with Hodgkin’s disease who has been refractory to ICPi. Sustained CR was achieved over 11 months after initiation of MEPED therapy. Further studies on a larger patient cohort should be performed. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 826: Baseline IgM Amounts Can Identify Patients with Poor Outcomes: Results from a Real-Life Single-Center Study on Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma
o Alessandra Romano Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) is characterized by an inflammatory background in which the reactive myeloid cells may exert an immune-suppressive effect related to the progression of the disease. Immunoglobulin M is the first antibody isotype produced during an immune response, which also plays an immunoregulatory role. Therefore, we investigated if, as a surrogate of defective B cell function, it could have any clinical impact on prognosis. In this retrospective, observational, single–center study, we evaluated 212 newly diagnosed HL patients, including 132 advanced-stage. A 50 mg/dL level o...

Temporal patterns of cancer burden in Asia, 1990-2019: a systematic examination for the Global Burden of Disease 2019 study
This study examines the temporal patterns of incidence, mortality, disability and risk factors of 29 cancers in Asia in the last three decades.METHODS: The age, sex and year-wise estimates of incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of 29 cancers for 49 Asian countries from 1990 through 2019 were generated as a part of the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries and Risk Factors 2019 study. Besides incidence, mortality and DALYs, we also examined the cancer burden measured in terms of DALYs and deaths attributable to risk factors, which had evidence of causation with different cancers. The development st...

Prognostic significance of bone marrow fibrosis in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
CONCLUSION: When the literature was reviewed, it was seen that this study was the first to define that bone marrow fibrosis grade 2 and above in DLBCL is a prognostic marker associated with worse survival. In the bone marrow pathology, which is examined to detect advanced disease in DLBCL, besides lymphomatous involvement, the detection of fibrosis grade is very important.PMID:38361314 | DOI:10.1111/ijlh.14249 (Source: International Journal of Laboratory Hematology)

Interfollicular Hodgkin's lymphoma: A diagnostic challenge for pathologists
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Jan-Mar;67(1):214-216. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_641_22.ABSTRACTInterfollicular Hodgkin's lymphoma (IFHL) is a rare pattern of classical Hodgkin's lymphoma (CHL) showing reactive follicular hyperplasia with involvement of the interfollicular area by HL. Two cases are reported in this study having primary IFHL out of total of 500 cases of CHL reported at our center. Diagnosis of IFHL was made on the basis of morphological and immunohistochemical features. As they represent an early stage of the disease, their identification and awareness s very important to get proper treatment at its earliest. ...

Extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma nasal type simulating osteoradionecrosis with metachronic B lymphoma in the pelvis: Case report
Indian J Pathol Microbiol. 2024 Jan-Mar;67(1):162-165. doi: 10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_296_22.ABSTRACTExtranodal Natural Killer/T Cell Lymphoma Nasal Type (EN-NK/T-CL-NT) is a non-Hodgkin extranodal lymphoma of unfavorable prognosis due to its aggressive nature. This neoplasm mainly affects the paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, oropharynx, oral cavity, palate, and rarely intestinal, gastric and skin regions. 50-year-old female with a history of lymphoma in nasal and pelvic region. At four years of tumors-free, has facial asymmetry, accompanied by sub-palpebral, nasal and lip edema. Intraoral examination revealed a large ulceration su...
