The Opposite Functions of CD30 Ligand Isoforms
This study aims to elucidate the properties and signaling functions of the second CD30 ligand isoform. We have found mRNA expression of both isoforms in the PBMCs of all six healthy donors tested. Through methods in cell biology and biochemistry, we were able to discover that the second CD30 ligand isoform has no discernable pro-inflammatory function and, in fact, isoform 2 can restrict the capacity of the canonical isoform to signal through the CD30 receptor by preventing their interaction. This discovery has implications for the future development of therapeutics targeting the CD30/CD30 ligand signaling pair in cancer an...

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma with localized relapse in bone marrow of lower leg detected using PET-CT
We present two patients with ENKTL, wherein positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) with total-body coverage after induction therapy, detected newly relapsed regions in the bone marrow of the lower leg prior to progression. Case 1: A 47-year-old woman with nasal obstruction, showing 18F-fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the nasal cavity (Lugano stage IE). After induction therapy (RT-2/3 DeVIC), PET-CT revealed abnormal uptake only in the right fibula. Case 2: A 68-year-old man with a skin nodule/ulcer and an enlarged right inguinal lymph node was diagnosed with advanced ENKTL. A PET-CT scan revealed abn...

Stigma, risks, and benefits of medicinal cannabis use among Australians with cancer
ConclusionFindings highlight the need for robust data regarding the harms and efficacy of medicinal cannabis and dissemination of such information among healthcare professionals and to patients who choose to use the substance. Ensuring healthcare professionals are equipped to provide non-judgmental and evidence-based guidance may mitigate potential safety and legal risks. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Acute kidney injury in children with lymphoma
CONCLUSION: TLS, lung infection, and lymphoma clinical stage were identified as independent risk factors for AKI in children with lymphoma during the first 30 days of hospitalization. Clinicians should increase their awareness of AKI in hospitalized patients with lymphoma.PMID:38529931 | DOI:10.5414/CN111157 (Source: Clinical Nephrology)

Post-marketing surveillance of the safety and effectiveness of nivolumab for classic Hodgkin lymphoma in Japan
In conclusion, nivolumab showed a similar safety profile and comparable effectiveness to that reported in clinical trials for relapsed/refractory cHL (CheckMate 205, ONO-4538-15).PMID:38521840 | DOI:10.1007/s12185-024-03734-y (Source: International Journal of Hematology)
