Hepatic perivascular epithelioid cell tumor resembling hepatic adenoma and hepatocellular carcinoma on preoperative imaging: a case report
We presented a case of a 29-year-old woman with hepatic PEComa and evaluated the tumor with MRI, integrated 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), and 68Ga-fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT scans at presentation. The patient had a history of intermittent utilization of oral contraceptive drugs for several years. An abdominal ultrasound in a physical examination from an outside institution revealed a mass in the liver. A contrast-enhanced abdominal MRI revealed restricted diffusion on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and rapid contrast enhancement and washout patterns in the hepatic lesion, suggesting hepatic ade...

Robotic Left Hepatectomy for Hemorrhagic Hepatocellular Adenoma: The Role of Robotic Surgery in a Semi-Acute Setting
In this study, we describe the use of robotic liver resection for the management of hemorrhagic hepatocellular adenoma in a semi-acute setting. We also include a series of robotic hepatic adenoma resection completed in our hepatobiliary program since 2016, which demonstrated the safety, feasibility, and reproducibility of robotic technique in treating hepatic adenoma.PMID:37490115 | DOI:10.1177/00031348231189830 (Source: The American Surgeon)

Hepatic splenosis, description of an unusual behavior at contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS)
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2023 Mar 10. doi: 10.17235/reed.2023.9530/2023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe case was a 47-year-old male, asymptomatic, with a personal history of splenectomy in childhood. He was referred to our outpatient clinic to complete the study of space-occupying liver lesion. The initial diagnostic suspicion was liver adenoma, given its behavior on magnetic resonance imaging and the absence of previous liver disease. We performed an intravascular contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) (SonoVue©). The lesion showed rapid centripetal enhancement, remaining enhanced in the portal phase with dim washout in the l...

Persistent acidosis and chronic kidney disease in a patient with type 1 glycogen storage disease
Clin Nephrol. 2023 Mar 5. doi: 10.5414/CN111005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTType 1 glycogen storage disease (GSDI) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase) deficiency. We discuss a case of a 29-year-old gentleman who had GSDI with metabolic complications of hypoglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperuricemia, and short stature. He also suffered from advanced chronic kidney disease, nephrotic range proteinuria, and hepatic adenomas. He presented with acute pneumonia and refractory metabolic acidosis despite treatment with isotonic bicarbonate infusion, reversal of hypoglycemia, and la...
