When did you start feeling comfortable?
I'm a new attending in my first year out from fellowship. I feel like a significant number of things I learned in fellowship are already outdated and it seems to be the trend is intensification of therapies (and hence side effects). How long did it take for things to start slowing down for you, or is it just the nature of the beast now that our field is perpetually at high speed. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job search limited to a few metro areas - advice appreciated!
Hello all, I'm a second year fellow (no visa sponsorship required) looking to join a community or hybrid heme/onc practice. Due to my spouse's job, I am constrained to practices ideally within 1 hour of the following metro areas: - Dallas/FW - Denver - Seattle - Portland I don't have any local contacts in these areas so I'm hoping some of you may be able to advise me on general salary expectations (all these areas are desirable and I know there can be quite a bit of heterogeneity between... What to list MLT as on AMCAS application
Worked as a MLT in a hospital specializing in hematology and microbiology testing for almost 2-years. Preformed CBC and manual diffs, helped in bone marrow biopsy, read microbiology plates and preformed susceptibility testing, etc. Very little patient interaction, but consistent interactions with physicians. Applying in the 2024-2025 cycle and was told by my masters program advisor to list the MLT as research/lab, but I am unsure if that counts as true research as it is not hypothesis driven... what is your thought about this drug pricing article?
If I interpret the data correctly, the difference in % is huge, not sure how to interpret the dollar difference. How can physician practice survive and still get a good pay given the much upper hand hospital systems have in profiting from the drug? Would love to know others perspective/experience. question about mid-levels
Can anyone chime in on how the reimbursement rates look for mid levels in community practice? I've read 85% of what MD bills. Not sure how this is working on it everyday practice. Are midlevels able to see a new patient, plan, write chemo with MD approval if MD is comfortable with this approach? How many patients per day do midlevels typically see ? I am assuming there is a range from the newly licensed to the 30+ year vet. How many midlevels are you normally overseeing any given day? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does pathology morphology matter anymore?
Greetings from the Pathology Forum! As pathologists, we have seen an increased trend towards oncologists just focusing on molecular test results rather than the standard pathology report. See below. What are you thoughts? Does morphology (ie. anatomic pathology diagnosis) matter anymore? Digital pathology is just pathology, but does it matter anymore? | Tissuepathology.com Since the 1990s, many innovators to Fortune 500 and Fortune 50 companies have worked to make digital pathology a reality. While not mainstream and perhaps less than 10% o...

Disadvantage to being clinically focused in malignant heme/BMT at academic center?
I’m a first year attending with a malignant heme/BMT disease focus at an academic center. Right now I’m 50% clinical 40% research (10% admin/teaching). I may have just had a bad few weeks but I’m starting to feel like the research component of my work is burning me out. I don’t mind seeing patients outpatient, inpatient, or working hard clinically. I do seem to mind slogging through stats, worrying about manuscript deadlines, if I’m publishing enough, and if I might ever get a grant. My... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

heme onc PSTP Chances?
Was hoping to get some insight into my chances for heme/onc PSTP. Current 4th year med student in a research year at a T20 west coast program. I am not doing an MD/PhD and have heard a PhD is a semi-soft requirement for PSTPs so was wondering how competitive I would be. My PI is actually a derm PI who specializes in derm-onc clinical trials, not sure if this would be a red flag for heme/onc PSTPs. Step 2 is 255+. Thanks in advance! Current research: 3 first author pubs (1 in IF~12... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Authorship order in clinical trials?
Sorry initially posted in the IM form by mistake. Current fellow here interested in clinical investigation. Curious to know how the authorship order is established for large clinical trials. I have heard that for large multi-center phase III trials, that number of patients enrolled and seniority factor into the authorship. Does that mean that authorship is not pre-established prior to trial activation and is decided at the time of data publication? Do the senior-most authors of the highest...
