Association between lipoprotein(a) and cardiovascular disease in patients undergoing coronary angiography
CONCLUSION: The findings indicated that elevated lipoprotein(a) had no obvious relationship with hypertension and obesity. Elevated lipoprotein(a) increases the risk of high total cholesterol, high LDL‑c, and premature CAD, and increases the occurrence and severity of coronary heart disease.PMID:38658408 | DOI:10.1007/s00059-024-05247-0 (Source: Herz)

Differences between men and women in the prevalence of frailty and associated factors among older adults: evidence from ELSI-Brazil
Cad Saude Publica. 2024 Apr 22;40(3):e00144923. doi: 10.1590/0102-311XPT144923. eCollection 2024.ABSTRACTBased on a national representative sample of the population aged 50 years or older, this study aimed to estimate the prevalence of frailty among men and women, identify associated sociodemographic and health factors, and estimate the population attributable fraction. Data from the second wave (2019-2021) of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Aging (ELSI-Brazil) were used. Frailty was classified based on the number of positive items among unintentional weight loss, exhaustion, low level of physical activity, slow gait, ...

Leisure-time and occupational physical activity and risk of cardiovascular disease incidence: a systematic-review and dose-response meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, results showed an inverse dose-response relationship between LTPA and risk of CVD, CHD, stroke, and AF. Running was the most beneficial LTPA but the risk was similar among various LTPA intensities. OPA showed no benefits in total or any type of CVD.PMID:38659024 | DOI:10.1186/s12966-024-01593-8 (Source: Health Physics)
