Bilateral Optic Neuropathy in Association with Diffuse Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis with Interstitial Lung Disease
CONCLUSION: This is a rare case of bilateral optic neuropathy in a patient with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis and interstitial lung disease with profound vision loss, in the absence of renal or cardiac involvement.PMID:37043627 | DOI:10.1080/09273948.2023.2195935 (Source: Ocular Immunology and Inflammation)

Ocular side effects of Trametinib and Dabrafenib: a case report
AbstractA 53-year-old man who has stage 4 non-small cell lung carcinoma and treated with Dabrafenib-Trametinib combination chemotherapy; presented with decreased bilateral visual acuity. We checked out slit lamp examination, fundoscopy, optical coherence tomography and fundus fluorescein angiography. In slit lamp biomicroscopy; bilateral posterior synechiae, granulomatous keratic precipitates and  + 4 cells in the anterior chamber were detected. Cystoid macular edema and subretinal fluid accumulation were revealed in optical coherence tomography. Dabrafenib and Trametinib treatments were discontinued and systemic methy...

Bilateral Longitudinally Extensive Optic Perineuritis Post ‐COVID‐19 Presenting as “Idiopathic” Intracranial Hypertension: A Case Report
ConclusionThere is a growing association between demyelinating disorders and COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccination, it is essential to recognize CSF abnormalities that are incompatible with a diagnosis of IIH, such as increased protein in our case, and may lead to an incorrect diagnosis. This article is protected by copyright. Systematic review of the relationship between Hollenhorst plaques and cerebrovascular events
CONCLUSION: The presence of asymptomatic retinal emboli indicates a risk of a cerebrovascular event when compared to patients with no plaques seen on fundoscopy. The evidence suggests that these patients warrant referral for medical optimization of cardiovascular risk factors. Currently, there is no recommendation to support carotid endarterectomy in patients with Hollenhorst plaques, or retinal emboli, and further studies are needed to assess this.PMID:36914563 | DOI:10.1177/17085381231163339 (Source: Vascular)

Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 690: Genetic and Clinical Characterization of Danish Achromatopsia Patients
Kessel Achromatopsia is a rare congenital condition with cone photoreceptor dysfunction causing color blindness, reduced vision, nystagmus and photophobia. New treatments are being developed, but the current evidence is still conflicting regarding possible progression over time, and there is no clear genotype-phenotype correlation. This natural history study aimed to further explore the course of disease and potential clinical differences between various genotypes. The retrospective design allowed for the study of a large cohort with a long follow-up. Patients were identified from the Danish national registries. If no...

Benign enlargement of the subarachnoid spaces and subdural collections —when to evaluate for abuse
AbstractIn infants without a history of trauma, subdural haemorrhages should raise the concern for an abusive head injury, particularly when they are associated with bridging vein clotting/rupture or with septations. However, non-haemorrhagic, fluid-appearing subdural collections (also called hygromas) may also be the result of abuse. Subdural collections have also been uncommonly observed in patients with benign enlargement of the subarachnoid spaces (BESS) and a few large-scale studies accurately investigate the incidence and the significance. Currently, there is a wide variation of practices in children with BESS and su...

Total exudative retinal detachment in a child with pars planitis- a challenging case with optimistic results
We report a challenging total ERD as a complication of pars planitis. Although extensive and non-responsive to medical therapy, complete resolution and improvement in vision was achieved with surgical intervention and systemic immunosuppression. We specul ate that uncontrolled chronic vasculitic process culminated in diffuse ERD. (Source: Journal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection)

Long-Term Outcomes following Intravitreal Ranibizumab for Choroidal Neovascularization Related to Nd:YAG Laser Macular Injury: A Case Report
In conclusion, laser-induced macular injury consists of an increasingly remarkable condition that may have a profound impact on visual outcomes. Our case provides insight into the potential mechanisms of Nd:YAG laser injury and it s complications, indicating that CNV may occur even in the long term, while anti-vascular endothelial growth factor may help maintain stable anatomic and functional outcomes.Case Rep Ophthalmol 2023;14:68 –74 (Source: Case Reports in Ophthalmology)

An unusual manifestation of Brucella-associated uveitis in a young male patient
Klin Monbl Augenheilkd. 2023 Feb 13. doi: 10.1055/a-2034-2180. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAbstract (English) This is a unique case of retinoschisis as an ocular manifestation of Brucellosis. A 38-year-old male presented with recurrent episodes of bilateral eye redness predominately on his left eye. His visual acuity was not affected, and he did not report any other symptoms. On slit-lamp examination, binocular Koeppe nodules of the iris and cells in the left anterior chamber were observed. Fundoscopy followed by meticulous multimodal imaging confirmed left inferior retinoschisis. The patient was diagnosed with panuveiti...
