Prevalence and Associated Factors of Work-Related Injury Among Municipal Solid Waste Collectors in Hawassa City, Southern Ethiopia: A Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of work-related injuries was high. Age 18 to 24 years, chewing khat, drinking alcohol, lack of PPE utilization, and job dissatisfaction were significantly associated with work-related injury. Based on the findings of this study, we suggest that addressing these risk factors could help to reduce work-related injuries.PMID:38559898 | PMC:PMC10981265 | DOI:10.1177/11786302241242231 (Source: Environmental Health Insights)

Glycemic control and its associated factors among adult diabetic patients in Southern Ethiopia: a cross-sectional study
Conclusion: A high prevalence of poor glycemic control status (82.4%) was observed among diabetic patients in this study area, and disease-related factors like duration of diabetes, complication, treatment type and lack of self-glucose monitoring, physical exercise, and dyslipidemia were identified as factors significantly associated with poor glycemic control status. The finding of the current study should be taken into account to conduct a strategic and timely intervention on significantly associated factors to delay diabetic complications and to improve the health outcome of diabetic patients. Routine screening and moni...

Carriage of antimicrobial-resistant Enterobacterales among pregnant women and newborns in Amhara, Ethiopia
Neonatal infections, particularly sepsis, meningitis, and pneumonia, are among the most common causes of mortality in the first 28 days of life, accounting for approximately 23% of 2.4 million neonatal deaths worldwide [1,2]. Treatment of infections is increasingly challenging in the context of antimicrobial resistance [3], with over 40% of neonatal sepsis cases estimated to have resistance or reduced susceptibility to both the first- (ampicillin/penicillin and gentamicin) and second-line (third-generation cephalosporins) treatments recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) [4]. Incidence of Adverse Perinatal Outcomes among Women Exposed to Maternal Near-Misses in Arsi Zone in Ethiopia: Prospective Cohort Study in 2022
CONCLUSION: In exposed women, a higher incidence of adverse perinatal outcomes was linked to aforementioned risk factors. Evidence-based practice intended to decrease delays in providing maternal care services does indeed improve perinatal outcomes.PMID:38550878 | PMC:PMC10978081 | DOI:10.1155/2024/6560652 (Source: Journal of Pregnancy)

Common Mental Disorder and Associated Factors among Women Attending Antenatal Care Follow-Up in North Wollo Public Health Facilities, Amhara Region, Northeast Ethiopia: A Cross-Sectional Study
Conclusions and Recommendation. One in five pregnant women has common mental disorder. Educational status of the participants and their spouses, unplanned pregnancy, self-reported complication during current and previous pregnancy, psychosocial risk, and legal and relationship problems were the main determinants of common mental disorders. Therefore, screening pregnant women for mental disorders and provision of necessary mental health services are recommended to minimize the adverse health outcome of CMD during pregnancy.PMID:38549566 | PMC:PMC10978072 | DOI:10.1155/2024/8828975 (Source: Depression Research and Treatment)
