Magnitude of Thrombocytopenia and Associated Factors among Pregnant Women Attending the Antenatal Care Service Unit of Wachemo University Nigist Ellen Mohammed Comprehensive Specialized Hospital Hosanna, Southern Ethiopia
CONCLUSION: The magnitude of thrombocytopenia in this study was 14.8%. Rural residence, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and anemia were significantly associated with thrombocytopenia. Therefore, the platelet count should be routinely determined during antenatal care visits for proper diagnosis and to minimize bleeding during and/or after childbirth.PMID:38655566 | PMC:PMC11039013 | DOI:10.1155/2024/8163447 (Source: Advances in Hematology)

Blood Pressure Control and Associated Factors among Hypertension Comorbid Type 2 Diabetic Patients in Southeast Ethiopia
CONCLUSION: Uncontrolled hypertension was found to be high among hypertension comorbid type 2 diabetic patients. Patients' adherence to antihypertensive medication, physical activity, and alcohol abstinence should be maximized. Loss of weight is also crucial, as is the early detection and management of comorbidities.PMID:38655153 | PMC:PMC11039015 | DOI:10.1155/2024/6668436 (Source: International Journal of Hypertension)

InSAR-based landslide hazard mapping and identification of at-risk infrastructures in a selected district of North Shewa Zone, Ethiopia
In this study, we employed a combination of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to explore the western escarpment of the Main Ethiopian Rift, with a focus on selected districts within the northern Shewa Zone, Ethiopia. By analyzing the SAR data, we derived 28 displacement maps and utilized them to create a comprehensive landslide hazard zonation map. The results indicated significant ground displacement, particularly along the rift margins and areas characterized by rugged terrain. The hazard zones were classified based on their level of risk, with 44% classif...

Isolation and Identification of < em > Pasteurella multocida < /em > and < em > Mannheimia haemolytica < /em > from Pneumonic Small Ruminants and Their Antibiotic Susceptibility in Haramaya District, Eastern Ethiopia
CONCLUSION: This study showed that M. haemolytica and P. multocida are the common causes of mannheimiosis and pasteurellosis in small ruminants, respectively, and isolates were resistant to commonly used antibiotics in the study area. Thus, an integrated vaccination strategy, antimicrobial resistance monitoring, and avoidance of stress-inducing factors are recommended.PMID:38655561 | PMC:PMC11039012 | DOI:10.1155/2024/5605552 (Source: The Scientific World Journal)
