High-intensity focused ultrasound with visually directed power adjustment for focal treatment of localized prostate cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionLimited evidence from eight observational studies demonstrated that visually directed HIFU for focal treatment of localized prostate cancer was associated with a relatively low risk of complications and acceptable cancer control over medium-term follow-up. Comparative, long-term safety and effectiveness results with visually directed focal HIFU are lacking. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

New and emerging frontiers in penile prosthesis microbiome research
Inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) implantation is the gold standard surgical treatment for erectile dysfunction refractory to more conservative treatments. While infection of IPPs is a rare, but devastating, complication requiring device explant, devices may also be explanted for other indications including mechanical failure and pain. Although it was traditionally thought that any device biofilm leads to clinical infection1,2, recent work has confirmed the presence of biofilms on nearly all devices, even those without traditional signs of infection. Date ( < em > Phoenix dactylifera < /em > L. Mill) fruit enhances sexual performance via modulation of oxido-inflammatory mediators and purinergic signaling in hypertensive male rats
Conclusion: Findings presented in this study suggest that dietary inclusion of P. dactylifera could be useful in managing erectile dysfunction (ED) commonly observed in subjects with hypertension. Findings highlighted in this study thus provide the scientific basis supporting the folkloric use of P. dactylifera as a key ingredient in aphrodisiac supplements.PMID:38483941 | DOI:10.1080/1354750X.2024.2331502 (Source: Biomarkers)
