Newborn Hearing Screening Results for Infants With Prenatal Opioid Exposure in Southern Appalachia
CONCLUSIONS: Referral rates of infants with POE were similar to those of infants with NOE. Nevertheless, the withdrawal symptomology of infants with POE introduces physiological noise reflected as artifact on ABR, which can affect efficiency of newborn hearing screenings.PMID:38517271 | DOI:10.1044/2024_JSLHR-23-00492 (Source: Journal of speech, language, and hearing research : JSLHR)

Association between different regional lymph node metastases of papillary thyroid carcinoma in adolescents and young adults
Oncol Lett. 2024 Mar 11;27(5):204. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14337. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTAdolescents and young adults (AYA) describe the demographic aged between 15-39 years diagnosed with cancer. This group is particularly at risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) with a greater severity compared with other ages. Through comparative design, the present study aimed to quantify central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) risk in AYAs. A total of 463 AYA patients with PTC and 489 patients >39 years old with PTC from Ningbo Medical Center Lihuili Hospital (Ningbo, China) were enrolled. Details such as demographic data, seru...

TOAST stroke subtype classification in clinical practice: implications for the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke nationwide registry
DiscussionClinical practice TOAST classification subtype diagnoses entered into the GWTG-Stroke registry were accurate in only 61% of patients, a performance rate that, if similarly present at other centers, would hamper the ability of the national registry to provide dependable insights into subtype-related care. Development of an updated ischemic stroke subtype classification system, with algorithmic logic embedded in electronic medical records, is desirable. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Epidemiological, immunological, and treatment response profile of patients with lupus nephritis in Brazil
CONCLUSION: Late biopsy seems to be associated with negative renal outcomes in LN. However, it seems that a higher chronicity index is the main predictor of a poor renal outcome among patients with LN in Brazil.PMID:38514381 | DOI:10.1177/09612033241240869 (Source: Lupus)

Real-World Effectiveness of Once-Weekly Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists (OW GLP-1RAs) in Comparison with Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 Inhibitors (DPP-4is) for Glycemic Control and Weight Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (RELATE)
ConclusionThe study reinforces that OW GLP-1RAs are more effective in glycemic control and weight reduction compared with DPP-4is in people with T2DM in the real-world setting. These findings align with the recommendation in the current guidelines for utilizing glucose-lowering treatment regimens that support weight-management goals in people with T2DM. Identifying postoperative complications after inguinal hernia repair with a smartphone application: a comparative cohort study
ConclusionThis study demonstrates satisfactory measurement capabilities of the Q1.6 Inguinal Hernia application for identifying postoperative complications following inguinal hernia repair. However, certain aspects require further improvement, such as addressing error-prone questions, enhancing long-term compliance, and validating (pain) measurements through prospective control data.Trail registration numberNL7813 (Dutch Trial Registry), 19 May 2019.
