Adapting care provision in family practice during the COVID-19 pandemic: a qualitative study exploring the impact of primary care reforms in four Canadian regions
CONCLUSIONS: Recent primary care system reforms implemented in Canada enhanced FPs' ability to adapt to the uncertain and evolving environment of providing primary care during the pandemic. Our study highlights the importance of ongoing primary care reforms to enhance pandemic preparedness and advocates for further expansion of these reforms.PMID:38582824 | DOI:10.1186/s12875-024-02356-x (Source: Primary Care)

Prognostic value of serum albumin to creatinine ratio in patients undergoing carotid artery stenting
CONCLUSIONS: Low sACR values at hospital admission was independently associated with in-hospital and long-term mortality and major stroke in patients underwent CAS.PMID:38577708 | DOI:10.23736/S0392-9590.24.05112-5 (Source: International Angiology)

Burden of selected chronic non-communicable diseases in a primary healthcare setting in Nuuk, Greenland, compared to a Danish suburb
CONCLUSION: In contrast to the disease pattern observed in Greenland in the last century, the prevalence of diagnosed NCDs in Nuuk is no longer rare. Thus, the overall prevalence of NCDs in the population of Nuuk is now comparable to or even higher than in the suburb in Denmark. This calls for increased focus on all NCDs in the primary healthcare system in Greenland and adaption of the primary healthcare services to a changed disease spectrum.PMID:38578458 | DOI:10.1080/02813432.2024.2334746 (Source: Primary Care)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1416: Real-World Electronic Medical Records Data Identify Risk Factors for Myelofibrosis and Can Be Used to Validate Established Prognostic Scores
This study leverages the TriNetX database with more than 64,000 MF patients to assess the impact of accessible parameters on survival and complicating events, including AML transformation, cachexia, increased systemic inflammation, thrombosis and hemorrhage. Age over 65 years correlated with increased risks of death, AML transformation, thrombosis and hemorrhage. Anemia (Hb < 10 g/dL), leukocytosis (>25 × 103/µL) and thrombocytopenia (<150 × 103/µL) reduced survival and increased risks across all assessed events. Monocytosis is associa...

MF-MNER: Multi-models Fusion for MNER in Chinese Clinical Electronic Medical Records
AbstractTo address the problem of poor entity recognition performance caused by the lack of Chinese annotation in clinical electronic medical records, this paper proposes a multi-medical entity recognition method F-MNER using a fusion technique combining BART, Bi-LSTM, and CRF. First, after cleaning, encoding, and segmenting the electronic medical records, the obtained semantic representations are dynamically fused using a bidirectional autoregressive transformer (BART) model. Then, sequential information is captured using a bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) network. Finally, the conditional random field (CRF)...
