Cystadenocarcinoma of the gallbladder: A case report
CONCLUSION: Cystadenocarcinoma is a rare diagnosis. There are no specific symptoms or lesions at the imaging. The confirmation is obtained on an anatomopathological study of the specimen.PMID:36582893 | PMC:PMC9793253 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104955 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenoma: A case report with review of literature
CONCLUSION: Mucinous cystadenoma is a very odd finding in the retroperitoneum. Multiple differential diagnoses are to be considered beforehand, as most of cystic lesions in this anatomical region are malignant and require a different surgical approach. Radical resection, by laparotomy or laparoscopy, is the treatment of choice.PMID:36582890 | PMC:PMC9793114 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104818 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

The presence of clear cell glands around the ovarian endometrioid cyst has an association with clear cell carcinoma
AbstractWe found some clear cell glands appeared in the endometrioid cysts (ECs) of the ovary (EC-CCG). To explore the clinicopathological features, molecular biological changes, and prognosis in EC-CCG and analyze the association with ovarian clear cell borderline tumors (CCBT) and clear cell carcinoma (CCC). We retrospectively examined 35 cases of EC-CCG, compared them to 13 cases of clear cell cystadenomas, 14 cases of CCBT, and 49 cases of CCC. We analyzed the differences in clinicopathological features and prognosis between the four groups. Data on clinicopathology and survival were gathered. Immunohistochemistry (IHC...

The World Health Organization Reporting System for Pancreaticobiliary Cytopathology
This reporting system is one of the first in a series from various body sites that mirror the WHO Classification of Tumours series and provides an evidence-based terminology system with associated risk of malignancy and diagnostic management recommendation per diagnostic category. The WHO Reporting System for Pancreaticobiliary Cytopathology (WHO system) revises the Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology (PSC) system for Reporting Pancreaticobiliary Cytology published in 2015 and replaces the six-tiered system with a seven-tiered system: “insufficient/inadequate/nondiagnostic”; “benign (negative for malignancy),” ...

Adnexal masses during pregnancy: diagnosis, treatment and prognosis
Adnexal masses are identified in pregnant patients at a rate of 2 to 20 in 1000, approximately 2 to 20 times more frequently than in the age-matched general population. The most common types of adnexal masses in pregnancy requiring surgical management are dermoid cysts (32%), endometriomas (15%), functional cysts (12%), serous cystadenomas (11%), and mucinous cystadenomas (8%). Approximately 2% of adnexal masses in pregnancy are malignant. While most adnexal masses in pregnancy can be safely observed and around 70% spontaneously resolve, a minority warrant surgical intervention due to symptoms, risk of torsion, or suspicio...

Laryngeal oncocytic cystadenoma and sudden death
AbstractAn 86-year-old woman with Alzheimer disease collapsed in her nursing home and was not able to be resuscitated. At autopsy, the major findings were in the larynx where a pedunculated oncocytic cystadenoma had occluded the glottis. Oncocytic cysts or cystadenomas of the larynx are rare histologically benign lesions that account for only 0.1 –1% of laryngeal lesions. While the usual presentation is of a sensation of a mass in the throat, hoarseness, or stridor, very occasionally, there may be acute airway compromise and sudden death. Oncocytic cystadenoma should, therefore, be included in the differential diagnosis ...
