Low-Pass Genomic Sequencing Reveals Novel Subtypes of Pancreatic Cystic Neoplasms
CONCLUSIONS: Our work revealed the distinct CIN signature of different types of PCNs. Deletions of chr3p and chr6p defined a subtype of SCAs. Gains of chr1q and chr8q were associated with insidious malignant PCNs and helped identify high-risk IPMNs.PMID:37249723 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13676-0 (Source: Ann Oncol)

Warthin Tumor of the Parotid Gland: The History of an Eponym
AbstractThe eponymous history of Warthin tumor (WT) is a fascinating issue in the field of salivary gland pathology. The late decades of the nineteenth century and the turn of the century saw notable German and French contributions on WT. Especially, the seminal 1910 paper of Albrecht and Arzt of Vienna is the foundation for the current knowledge of WT. It is generally believed that prior to this pioneering study, Hildebrand of G öttingen accurately described the lesion of WT in 1895. However, the historical origins of WT appear to be unsettled, and only a few German pathologists and surgeons are aware that dating back to...

Management of Mucinous Cystic Neoplasms of the Liver
ConclusionMCN-L are rare cystic liver tumors that include BCA and BCAC, which can be difficult to differentiate based on imaging alone. Surgical resection remains the mainstay of management for MCN-L with recurrence being generally uncommon. Future multi-institutional studies are still required to better understand the biology behind BCA and BCAC to improve the care of patients with MCN-L. (Source: Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery)

Histological and Genetic Diversity in Ovarian Mucinous Carcinomas: A Pilot Study
This study aimed to elucidate the genetic changes histologically (mucinous cystadenoma (MCA), mucinous borderline tumor (MBT), and mucinous ovarian carcinoma (MOC)) in a portion of mucinous ovarian tumors within the same sample. Seven tumor samples obtained from different patients were used to evaluate the genetic mutations in each component. Intratumor genetic heterogeneity was observed in all patients; among them, BRAF (V600E) and p53 (T118I, P142S, T150I, and T170M) point mutations were observed in the MBT component, while KRAS (G12D and G13D) and PIK3CA (E545K) mutations were found in the MOC component. The current fin...
