Humoral Response After Two Doses of COVISHIELD < sup > TM < /sup > Vaccine in Patients Undergoing Maintenance Hemodialysis
CONCLUSION: In MHD patients, two doses of the COVISHIELDTM vaccine induced a substantial humoral response. Prior history of COVID-19 resulted in a higher antibody response. Thus, the COVISHIELDTM vaccine is efficacious and safe for use in patients with MHD. How to cite this article: Balwani MR, Pasari AS, Baw.ule C, et al. Glycemic Control and Mucormycosis during COVID-19 Pandemic in India a Study of Stage and Outcome
CONCLUSION: The study showed a positive correlation between the stage of mucormycosis and serum glycemic control markers at presentation. Clinicians must order blood sugar and HbA1c levels at presentation as cues for a better understanding of disease severity. A thorough clinical examination and history taking for patient risk factors predisposing to mucormycosis are also crucial since the presence of proptosis and coronary artery disease are significantly correlated with the mortality outcomes. The extent of poor glycemic control at presentation was not associated with mortality outcomes. How to cite this article: Sharma ...

Comparison of Guillain-Barre Syndrome Cases during and Prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Multicentric Study
DISCUSSION: The number of GBS hospital admissions, clinical presentation, electrodiagnostic features, and short-term outcomes did not differ significantly between the prepandemic and postpandemic periods; a slightly higher incidence of in-hospital complications was observed during the pandemic period. Increased Pill Burden and Adverse Effects of Psychotropics Correlated with Poor Quality of Life and Medication Nonadherence: A Cross-sectional Drug Utilization Study at a Tertiary Care Hospital in Delhi during COVID-19 Pandemic
CONCLUSION: In the tertiary care hospital described, rational drug prescribing was followed. Increase in the number of drugs per prescription was found to be associated with poor QOL and the development of ADRs led to medication nonadherence in the patients. Further studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these results. How to cite this article: Kumar A, Halder S, Srivastava S, et al. Modeling and predicting individual variation in COVID-19 vaccine-elicited antibody response in the general population
PLOS Digit Health. 2024 May 3;3(5):e0000497. doi: 10.1371/journal.pdig.0000497. eCollection 2024 May.ABSTRACTAs we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccines are one of the most important tools in infectious disease control. To date, an unprecedentedly large volume of high-quality data on COVID-19 vaccinations have been accumulated. For preparedness in future pandemics beyond COVID-19, these valuable datasets should be analyzed to best shape an effective vaccination strategy. We are collecting longitudinal data from a community-based cohort in Fukushima, Japan, that consists of 2,407 individuals who underwent serum sam...

Bone mineral density as an individual prognostic biomarker in NSCLC patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors
CONCLUSION: Lower baseline BMD is associated with worse clinical outcomes in NSCLC patients treated with ICIs. As a reliable and easily obtained individual prognostic biomarker, BMD can become a routine detection indicator before immunotherapy.PMID:38698843 | PMC:PMC11063287 | DOI:10.3389/fimmu.2024.1332303 (Source: Cancer Control)
