Longer-Duration Dual Antiplatelet Therapy in Medically-Treated Myocardial Infarction: What is the Strength of the Evidence?
A few studies have demonstrated the benefit of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) during the first 3 to 12 months after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in medically managed patients.1 –3 However, the benefit of more prolonged DAPT is poorly defined. The guidelines from national societies on the use of antiplatelet therapy after acute coronary syndromes (ACS) with or without percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)/stenting continue to evolve, with more recent guidelines recomme nding a reduced duration and intensity of therapy in certain situations. Evaluation on mortality predictors after emergent percutaneous coronary intervention in acute myocardial infarction with ventricular arrhythmias: Details not to be ignored?
We have read the article “Predictors of 30-day survival after emergent percutaneous coronary intervention following ventricular tachyarrhythmias complicating acute myocardial infarction” by Kohei Ukita et al [1]. In the study Immediate CPR and single-vessel CAD were significant predictors of 30-day survival after emerge nt PCI following VF or pulseless VT complicating AMI in patients . Acute myocardial infarction with e ‐cigarette or vaping‐use associated lung injury in a young Filipino vape user
We present a 22-year-old Filipino male with sudden chest pain. He had no known comorbidities but had a two-year history of daily vape use. Work-up revealed elevated cardiac markers, anteroseptal ST-elevation myocardial infarction, hypokinesia of the anterior wall and interventricular septum, and an ejection fraction of 30%.
