Rapid and Green Fabrication of Nanozyme with Geminal CuN3O Configuration for Efficient Catecholase ‐Mimicking
An efficient catecholase-like nanozyme with geminal CuN3O configuration is fabricated, which shows potential applications in biocatalysis and analytical detection. AbstractFabrication of nanozyme with catecholase-like catalytic activity faces the great challenge of merging outstanding activity with low cost as well as simple, rapid, and low-energy-consumed production, restricting its industrial applications. Herein, an inexpensive yet robust nanozyme (i.e., DT-Cu) via simple one-step coordination between diaminotriazole (DT) and CuSO4 within 1  h in water at room temperature is constructed. The asymmetric dicopper site wi...

Facile fabrication of nanocellulose-supported membrane composited with modified carbon nitride and HKUST-1 for efficient photocatalytic degradation of formaldehyde
In this study, we developed a novel composite membrane material capable of adsorbing and photo-catalyzing formaldehyde by immobilizing HKUST-1 (copper open framework composed of 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) onto NFC (Nano-fibrillated cellulose) membranes and subsequently loading modified carbon nitride. The synthesized CNx@HN composite membrane (consisting of NFC membrane with anchored HKUST-1 and modified g-C3Nx nanosheets) was thoroughly characterized, and its photocatalytic degradation performance towards low concentrations of formaldehyde (3.0 mg/m3) was investigated. The results demonstrated that HKUST-1's porous ...

Encapsulation of copper phenanthroline within horse spleen apoferritin: characterisation, cytotoxic activity and ability to retain temozolomide
RSC Adv. 2024 Apr 29;14(20):14008-14016. doi: 10.1039/d3ra07430g. eCollection 2024 Apr 25.ABSTRACTProtein capsules are promising drug delivery vehicles for cancer research therapies. Apoferritin (AFt) is a self-assembling 12 nm diameter hollow nanocage with many desirable features for drug delivery, however, control of drug retention inside the protein cage remains challenging. Here we report the encapsulation of copper(ii)-1,10-phenanthroline (Cu(phen)) within the horse spleen AFt (HSAFt) nanocage, by diffusion of the metal through the pores between the protein subunits. Transmission electron microscopy revealed the forma...

Copper/Polyaniline Interfaces Confined CO2 Electroreduction for Selective Hydrocarbon Production
ChemSusChem. 2024 Apr 30:e202400209. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202400209. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPolyaniline (PANI) provides an attractive organic platform for CO2 electrochemical reduction due to the ability to adsorb CO2 molecules and in providing means to interact with metal nanostructures. In this work, a novel PANI supported copper catalyst has been developed by coupling the interfacial polymerization of PANI and Cu nanoparticles. The hybrid catalyst demonstrates excellent activity towards production of hydrocarbon products including CH4 and C2H4, compared with the use of bare Cu nanoparticles. A faradaic efficiency of...

Novel isatin-triazole based thiosemicarbazones as potential anticancer agents: synthesis, DFT and molecular docking studies
In this study, two distinct types of isatin-triazole hybrids 3a and 3b were accessed via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC), together with their mono and bis-thiosemicarbazone derivatives 4a-h and 5a-h. In addition to the characterization by physical, spectral and analytical data, a DFT study was carried out to obtain the optimized geometries of all thiosemicarbazones. The global reactivity values showed that among the synthesized derivatives, 4c, 4g and 5c having nitro substituents are the most soft compounds, with compound 5c having the highest electronegativity and electrophilicity index values...

Control over Anion Coordination on Pd(II), Cu(I), and Ag(I) with Regioisomeric Phosphine-Carboxylate Ligands
Chemistry. 2024 Apr 30:e202401215. doi: 10.1002/chem.202401215. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe coordination of anionic donors is involved at various stages of catalytic cycles in transition-metal catalysis, but control over the spatial positioning of anions around a metal center is a challenge in coordination chemistry. Here we show that regioisomeric phosphine-carboxylate ligands provide spatial anion control on palladium(II) centers by favoring either κ2, cis-κ1, or trans-κ1 coordination of the carboxylate donor. Additionally, the palladium(II) carboxylates, which contain a methyl donor, upon protonation, deliver m...

Carbonized cellulose microspheres loaded with Pd NPs as catalyst in p-nitrophenol reduction and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction
Int J Biol Macromol. 2024 Apr 28:131904. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2024.131904. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCatalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol is usually carried out using transition metal nanoparticles such as gold, palladium, silver and copper, especially palladium nanoparticles, which are characterized by fast reaction rate, high turnover frequency, good selectivity and high yield. However, the aggregation and precipitation of the metals lead to the decomposition of the catalyst, which results in a significant reduction of the catalytic activity. Therefore, the preparation of homogeneous stabilized palladium nanoparti...

The Oscillatory Behaviour of Cu-ZSM-5 Catalysts for N2O Decomposition: Investigation of Cu species by complementary techniques
Chemphyschem. 2024 Apr 30:e202400339. doi: 10.1002/cphc.202400339. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCopper-exchanged ZSM-5 (Cu-ZSM-5) is a promising catalyst thanks to the Cu redox pair. A particular feature of this material consists in the presence of spontaneous isothermal oscillations which take place during N2O decomposition reaction, depending on the operating conditions. In the present work, a set of five Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts are synthesised by three procedures and three different copper precursor concentrations: i) wet impregnation, ii) single ion exchange, and iii) double ion exchange. Catalytic tests reveal that the io...
