Cuproptosis and copper deficiency in ischemic vascular injury and repair
AbstractIschemic vascular diseases are on the rise globally, including ischemic heart diseases, ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, and ischemic peripheral arterial diseases, posing a significant threat to life. Copper is an essential element in various biological processes, copper deficiency can reduce blood vessel elasticity and increase platelet aggregation, thereby increasing the risk of ischemic vascular disease; however, excess copper ions can lead to cytotoxicity, trigger cell death, and ultimately result in vascular injury through several signaling pathways. Herein, we review the role of cuproptosis and copper defic...

A novel network-based method identifies a cuproplasia-related pan-cancer gene signature to predict patient outcome
AbstractCopper is a vital micronutrient involved in many biological processes and is an essential component of tumour cell growth and migration. Copper influences tumour growth through a process called cuproplasia, defined as abnormal copper-dependent cell-growth and proliferation. Copper-chelation therapy targeting this process has demonstrated efficacy in several clinical trials against cancer. While the molecular pathways associated with cuproplasia are partially known, genetic heterogeneity across different cancer types has limited the understanding of how cuproplasia impacts patient survival. Utilising RNA-sequencing ...

Linkage Engineering in Covalent Organic Frameworks for Metal-Free Electrocatalytic C2H4 Production from CO2
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2024 Apr 18:e202404738. doi: 10.1002/anie.202404738. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTElectrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR) to produce ethylene (C2H4) is conducive to sustainable development of energy and environment. At present, most electrocatalysts for C2H4 production are limited to the heavy metal copper, meanwhile, achieving metal-free catalysis remains a challenge. Noted piperazine with sp3 N hybridization is beneficial to CO2 capture, but CO2RR performance and mechanism have been lacking. Herein, based on linkage engineering, we construct a novel high-density sp3 N catalytic...

Meta-Selective Copper-Catalyzed C-H Arylation of Pyridines and Isoquinolines through Dearomatized Intermediates
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2024 Apr 18:e202405385. doi: 10.1002/anie.202405385. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTC(sp2)-H functionalization offers an efficient strategy for the synthesis of various elaborated N-containing heteroarenes. Along these lines, oxazino pyridines that can be readily prepared from pyridines, have been introduced as powerful substrates in radical- and ionic-mediated meta-C-H functionalization. However, the regioselective meta-C-H arylation of pyridines remains a great challenge. Herein, a copper-catalyzed meta-selective C-H arylation of pyridines and isoquinolines through bench-stable dearomatized interme...

Current knowledge of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma
In this study, we performed a first attempt to collect the current evidence on the proposed roles of ferroptosis in OSCC through a comprehensive review. Based on clinical data from the relevant studies within this topic, we found that ferroptosis-associated tumor microenvironment, ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs), and ferroptosis-related lncRNAs exhibited a potent prognostic value for OSCC patients. Mechanistically, experimental data revealed that the proliferation and tumorigenesis of OSCC might be associated with the inhibition of cellular ferroptosis through the activation of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and adipocyt...

NIR-responsive copper nanoliposome composites for cascaded ferrotherapy via ferroptosis actived ICD and IFN- γ released
Biomaterials. 2024 Apr 15;308:122570. doi: 10.1016/j.biomaterials.2024.122570. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMetallic biomaterials activate tumor ferroptosis by increasing oxidative stress, but their efficacy is severely limited in tumor microenvironment. Although interferon gamma (IFN-γ) can promote tumor ferroptosis sensitivity by inhibiting the antioxidant system and promoting lipid accumulation, this effect limited by the lack of IFN-γ accumulation in tumors. Herein, we report a near-infrared (NIR)-responsive HCuS nanocomposite (HCuS-PE@TSL-tlyp-1) that can stimulate immunogenic cell death (ICD)-mediated IFN-γ secre...

Ortho-ester-substituted diaryliodonium salts enabled regioselective arylocyclization of naphthols toward 3,4-benzocoumarins
Abstract Cyclic annulation involving diaryliodonium salts is an efficient tool for the construction of two or more chemical bonds in a one-pot process. Ortho-functionalized diaryliodonium salts have showcased distinct reactivity in the exploration of benzocyclization or arylocyclization. With this strategy of ortho-ester-substituted diaryliodonium salts, herein, we utilized a copper catalyst to activate the C–I bond of diaryliodonium salts in the generation of aryl radicals, thus resulting in an annulation reaction with naphthols and substituted phenols. This approach yielded a diverse array of 3,4-benzocoumarin deri...
