Confirmation of lung adenocarcinoma as the primary cancer with detection of EML4-ALK rearrangement using next-generation sequencing: a case study
This study suggested that NGS be recommended to detect ALK rearrangement in the patients with carcinoma of unknown primary site, and that resistance to targeted therapy with ALK inhibitors should be considered for personalized precision medicine.PMID:36099717 | DOI:10.1016/j.prp.2022.154105 (Source: Pathology, Research and Practice)

Prognostic factors among patients with brain metastases from cancer of unknown primary site
ConclusionThe incidence of patients with BM-CUPs is steadily increasing over time and overall prognosis remains dismal. Our results, however, show distinct patient subgroups that exhibit comparatively better outcomes, and more predictors may likely still be identified. (Source: Journal of Neuro-Oncology)

Long-term results of radio(chemo)therapy in metastatic carcinoma to cervical lymph nodes from an unknown primary. Adult Comorbidity Evaluation 27 score as a predictor of survival
ConclusionThe results of our work study demonstrate the high effectiveness of curative (chemo)radiotherapy on the pharyngeal axis and bilateral cervical nodes with long-term locoregional and distant control in 3/4 of the treated patients. N ‑status and comorbidity scores were shown as strong prognostic factors influencing overall survival. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)
