Tibetan medicine Bang Jian: a comprehensive review on botanical characterization, traditional use, phytochemistry, and pharmacology
Tibetan medicine Bang Jian refers to a range of botanical drugs within the Gentiana genus. It serves as a prominent traditional Tibetan botanical drug primarily found in the ethnic minority regions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China. Traditionally, the dried flowers of Bang Jian, known as “Longdanhua” have been employed in Tibetan medicine to address detoxification, pharyngeal relief, acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, lung infections, pulmonary fibrosis, and throat disorders. Surprisingly, there has been no comprehensive review published to date on Tibetan medicine Bang Jian. This passage systematically ...

Electronic cigarette use and respiratory symptoms in the French population-based Constances cohort
Knowledge about the consequences of electronic cigarette (EC) use on respiratory health is still limited. We aimed to assess whether EC use is associated with the occurrence of asthma symptoms and chronic bronchitis among the French adult population, with a specific focus on never combustible cigarettes (CC) smokers. We further investigated whether the association differed in men and women. (Source: Respiratory Medicine)

The role of IBV PL1pro in virus replication and suppression of host innate immune responses
Coronavirus papain-like proteases (PLpros) play a crucial role in virus replication and the evasion of the host immune response. Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) encodes a proteolytically defective remnant of... (Source: BMC Veterinary Research)

Associations between ultrafine particle pollution and daily outpatient visits for respiratory diseases in Shanghai, China: a time-series analysis
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Dec 11. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-31248-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPrevious epidemiological studies have linked short-term exposure to particulate matter with outpatient visits for respiratory diseases. However, evidence on ultrafine particle (UFP) is still scarce in China. To investigate the association between short-term UFP exposure and outpatient visits for respiratory diseases as well as the corresponding lag patterns, information on outpatient visits for main respiratory diseases during January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2019 was collected from electronic medical records of two larg...

Comparison of quantitative PCR and digital PCR assays for quantitative detection of infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) genome
In this study, performance characteristics such as the quantification range, sensitivity, precision, and specificity of the dPCR technique was compared to qPCR technique for the detection and quantification of IBV genome loads in serial dilutions of IBV positive plasmid DNA, and IBV infected chicken tissue and swab samples. The quantification range of the qPCR assay was wider than that of the dPCR assay, however dPCR had a higher sensitivity compared to qPCR. The precision of quantification of DNA in plasmid samples in terms of repeatability and reproducibility of results was higher when using the dPCR assay compared to qP...
