Clinical features of plastic bronchitis in children after congenital heart surgery
ConclusionsChildren with airway abnormalities or right ventricular dysfunction after CHS should be alerted to the development of PB. Pharmacological treatment such as anti-infection, corticosteroids, or improvement of right ventricular function is the basis of PB treatment, while fiberoptic bronchoscopy is an essential tool for the diagnosis and treatment of PB. ECMO assistance is a vital salvage treatment for recurrent critically ill PB patients. (Source: Italian Journal of Pediatrics)

Comparative analysis of antibodies to four major periodontal bacteria in respiratory diseases: a cohort study
Conclusion A low level of TD was associated with bronchitis/emphysema compared with the rest of the cohort. In the total study sample, low levels of antibodies to both TF and TD were associated with daily smoking. (Source: BMJ Open)

Rational use of antibiotics treatment in acute bronchitis
Med Mal Infect. 1992 Feb;22:149-152. doi: 10.1016/S0399-077X(05)81464-7. Epub 2005 Jun 20.ABSTRACTAcute bronchitis in healthy patient in mainly related to virus. Intra-cellular bacteria, Mycoplasma pneumonia are rarely involved. For these reasons, macrolides or cyclines (except for children) are justified in first line treatment. For patients with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, the choice of the treatment needs to be discuss. At the initial stage, most of the pathogens involved are those of acute bronchitis. Antibiotic is only prescribes for the prevention of a superinfection; this kind of prophylaxis has to be ...

Viruses, Vol. 16, Pages 605: Host Immune Response Modulation in Avian Coronavirus Infection: Tracheal Transcriptome Profiling In Vitro and In Vivo
l Abdul-Careem Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) is a highly contagious Gammacoronavirus causing moderate to severe respiratory infection in chickens. Understanding the initial antiviral response in the respiratory mucosa is crucial for controlling viral spread. We aimed to characterize the impact of IBV Delmarva (DMV)/1639 and IBV Massachusetts (Mass) 41 at the primary site of infection, namely, in chicken tracheal epithelial cells (cTECs) in vitro and the trachea in vivo. We hypothesized that some elements of the induced antiviral responses are distinct in both infection models. We inoculated cTECs and infected young...

The Impact of Formaldehyde Exposure on Lung Inflammatory Disorders: Insights into Asthma, Bronchitis, and Pulmonary Fibrosis
Chem Biol Interact. 2024 Apr 9:111002. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2024.111002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLung inflammatory disorders are a major global health burden, impacting millions of people and raising rates of morbidity and death across many demographic groups. An industrial chemical and common environmental contaminant, formaldehyde (FA) presents serious health concerns to the respiratory system, including the onset and aggravation of lung inflammatory disorders. Epidemiological studies have shown significant associations between FA exposure levels and the incidence and severity of several respiratory diseases. FA caus...
