Light deficiency in Apoe-/-mice increases atheroma plaque size and vulnerability by modulating local immunity
This study suggest that therapies based on the local delivery of LIGHT within plaques might therefore prevent immune cell derangement and advanced atherosclerosis.PMID:38336102 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbadis.2024.167052 (Source: Biochimica et Biophysica Acta)

Late relapse of chronic myeloid leukemia after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation points to KANSARL (KANSL1::ARL17A) alteration: a case report with insights on the molecular landscape
AbstractChronic myeloid leukemia is a myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome and the consequent BCR::ABL1 oncoprotein. In the era before the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), the only potentially curative treatment was allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Here, we present the case of a patient affected by CML who experienced a relapse 20  years after allogeneic HSCT. Following relapse, the patient was treated with imatinib and bosutinib, resulting in a deep molecular response and successfully discontinued treatment. Additional analysi...

Pulmonary, Hepatic, and Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Patients with Telomere Biology Disorders
This study aimed to summarize evidence and provide consensus-based guidelines for management of transplantation in patients with telomere biology disorders (TBD). Specifically, this review focuses on clinical management of lung, liver, and bone marrow transplantation in TBD patients.Recent FindingsTBD patients have specific unique biological vulnerabilities such as T cell immunodeficiency, susceptibility to infections, hypersensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation, and cytopenias. Furthermore, multiple organ involvement at diagnosis makes clinical management especially challenging due to higher degree of organ damage, and...

Improved Outcome of Primary Plasma Cell Leukemia in the Current Era with the Use of Novel Agents and Autologous Bone Marrow Transplants —A Single Centre Experience
AbstractPrimary Plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) is an aggressive variant of plasma cell dyscrasias. Diagnostic criteria of plasma cell leukemia were recently updated by international myeloma working group to with more than 5% circulating plasma cells or absolute plasma cell count of more than 500/ µL.We performed a retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with pPCL in our department from 2017 to 2022. Clinical characteristics including the symptoms at presentation, organomegaly, bony involvement and extramedullary involvement were collected. Laboratory parameters including the biochemistry serum protein electrophoresis, s...

Efficacy and Safety in Early application of Ruxolinitib for high-risk: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia to prevent GVHD and recurrence after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary observations suggest that an early application of ruxolitinib can safely and effectively prevent the occurrence of GVHD after allo-HSCT for the high-risk ALL patients. However, ruxolitinib may have a limited effect on preventing the ALL recurrence of high-risk patients.PMID:38302005 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2023.101978 (Source: Transplant Immunology)
