High cholesterol diet-induced testicular dysfunction in rats
CONCLUSIONS: Our results showed that a high-cholesterol diet adversely affected testosterone production and sperm progressive motility, possibly due to Leydig, Sertoli, and germ cell abnormalities.PMID:37596375 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-023-00472-4 (Source: Hormones)

Stepwise mini-incision microdissection testicular sperm extraction in NOA patients with a history of cryptorchidism: a case –control study
ConclusionsIn conclusion, our study suggests that the stepwise mini-incision mTESE could be a promising approach for sperm retrieval in NOA men with a history of cryptorchidism. While the technique may potentially reduce operation time and surgical invasiveness, further research is needed to validate these findings on a larger scale. The results also suggest that age at orchidopexy may affect SRR and have important implications for the management of cryptorchidism. (Source: Basic and Clinical Andrology)

Recovering Spermatogenesis By Protected Cryopreservation Using Metformin and Transplanting Spermatogonial Stem Cells Into Testis in an Azoospermia Mouse Model
Biopreserv Biobank. 2023 Aug 15. doi: 10.1089/bio.2022.0178. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCryopreservation and transplantation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) may serve as a new method to restore male fertility in patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. However, SSCs may be damaged during cryopreservation due to the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Therefore, different antioxidants have been used as protective agents. Studies have shown that metformin (MET) has antioxidant activity. The aim of this study was to assess the antioxidant and antiapoptotic effects of MET in frozen-thawed SSCs. In addi...
