Hi there,
Another non-standard, 'mature' aspiring medic here!
I am an Assistant Respiratory Physiologist, previously bank HCA covering all wards, including A&E. I'm a single Mummy to a beautiful little boy, who has just turned four. He has been very poorly for the last three years so only now, I've been able to seriously start the ball rolling now that things are looking up a little and he is due to start school in September.
My GCSE's were taken in 2002 and really aren't worth mentioning. I was a good girl no self esteem and bullied throughout upper school... blah blah.. No excuses.

Clinical Experiences:
-175 hours volunteering in the ER
-75 total shadowing hours (50 hours shadowing internist and 25 hours ER physician)
Research:
-1 year in lab learning molecular techniques but didn't actually get to do so much research. It was pretty much all the grit work so I left
-1.5 years (and continuing) in an immunoparasitology lab studying toxoplasma gondii and its interactions with the immune system. Got a $400 grant and presented at university symposium.

Hi all,
I'm using this as an introductory post. Although I've made a couple of posts, I've mostly been lurking and I wanted to introduce myself while the boards are relatively quiet, both to try and get a bit of conversation going now as well as getting to know a few of you before GAMSAT panic sets in.

Is an SMP right for me?
Hi all,
I'm about to graduate in the fall (2013) and currently my GPA is a depressing 2.93. I have 1000+ hours of shadow experience at a clinic with a doctor, I've worked with autistic children for ~3 months (I don't know if that will look good on my resume but hey maybe!) and I'm CNA certified.
I know for a fact I can increase it to a 3.0 by the end of this semester. My ultimate goal is Med School so I'm trying to figure out how to get in. Hello and here goes!
I've been a long time lurker so I thought I'd just introduce myself and give a little bit of information about where I am currently in applying to Medical school. I've never actually discussed any of this online so go easy.
I'm 22, graduated with a 2.1 in Law in July and now studying for an LLM/MA in Medical Law on course for a distinction. I started to consider Medicine in college but assumed that route was closed due to not taking any science A-Levels.
