Vaxxed the movie
Anyone seen this movie? What do you think? Its not so much antivaxx but more like anti multi course MMR because it causes autism and the CDC tried covering it up by leaving out crucial info (getting the MMR vaccine before the age of 3 increases the risk of autism in African American boys by 340%) in their study says the ex CDC senior researcher aka the CDC whistle blower. The CDC claimed they left out that info because the methods of gathering the info was flawed. It has something to... Vaxxed the movie (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Inpatient Docs: STOP "diagnosing" kids with ASD and expecting the outpatient doc treat it
I really have to vent about this, because it happened at least 3 times this past week. I really hate it when an inpatient psychiatrist "diagnoses" a child with Autism after seeing them for maybe 5-10 minutes every other day during a 5-7 day hospitalization, then expects the outpatient doc to pick up referring the child for the, "indicated" treatment. That's 3 times in a week I have had to deal with an angry and confused parent who complains to hospital admin when I refuse to place a referral... Are aspergers researching autism prevalent?
I was stringently diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome at age 15 and thus know better than anyone what aspergers does and does entail, and wheter it should be grouped with autism. Would I be unique in the field of psychology to research my own condition? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can I be a vet with autism?
I'm not sure where I fall on the "autistic spectrum", since I had a speech delay and didn't speak until I was five according to my mother. I was always told I had "Asperger's Syndrome" but growing up in the early 1990's when it was such a new diagnosis, there wasn't really much anyone could do. If there was something, my parents couldn't afford it. My main issue was obsessions, or "special interests" if you want the actual lingo. They never bothered me, they bothered everyone else. My... Best specialty to work with Children with Disabilties?
Hello! Long time creeper, first time poster. Not really sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I know I have a long way to go before I need to worry about specialties and all that but I was really just curious?? What is the best route to work with children with disabilities(autism, Down syndrome, etc) ?? I grew up around the population (mother and sister are bother special Ed teachers) so it's something I'm really interested in. So what specialty works most closely with these groups?... Ask an OT about anything OT!
Hey guys! My name is Dan and I'm an OT over here in Maryland. I've seen and done just about the whole darn gamut in OT - I started out as an intern in forensic psych, got my first job in acute inpatient hospital working general surgery and abdominal surgery (with a geri-psych job on the side), and moved onto jobs in subacute rehabs, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient acute rehab, outpatient ortho/neuro, adult developmental disabilities, pediatrics (autism specifically), education, and now...
