Employment Change: Update Letter?
Hey SDNers!
I've completed my apps since August/September and originally stated that I'd spend my gap year working in a research lab and serving the community. I decided to take a Behavior Tech position for an ABA Autism Center instead, would this be a good reason to submit an update letter to schools?
I've been on hold for one school and rejected from another, and I haven't heard back from the remaining ~20 schools. Any help would be much appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How does the EC sound?
Hello SDN,
I am currently in my gap year and am applying to medical schools. I definitely want to make sure my app is improving just in case things don't go well this cycle.
I am currently: Scribing, Hospice Volunteering, doing Research, and possibly tutoring for $$
I think I should find a non-clinical volunteering gig as well.

Therapeutic riding center - clinical volunteering?
I'd be volunteering with children with developmental disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, etc. at a therapeutic riding center. I'd be directly aiding them brush horses and ride. Would this count as clinical volunteering? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

senior, low gpa, should i give up?
Hi everyone, first time actually posting something here,
My anxiety has gone through the roof with this. I have a 2.7 cGPA. I'm a senior college. And I havent taken the MCAT yet (will be on Sept 9) and after all this I still want to apply to medical school.
In terms of volunteering/shadowing, I intern at a child development center working with autistic kids about once a week for the past year. I love the job which helps me cement my dreams of becoming a pediatrician even more.
The reason...

Family member asking if I think their child is autistic
Hey all, sorry for the novel. There is a tl;dr at the bottom. A family member put in me in very precarious situation the other day when she essentially asked me if I think her son might have autism. Being an MS4, I started with the standard "I am in no way qualified to answer your question." After that I told her the truth, which was that I thought it was really unlikely, but I haven't had the proper training to tell her anything useful. I did not add that if she thinks it's an issue she...
