Are A-level Chem and Bio enough?

Hi there, Another non-standard, 'mature' aspiring medic here! I am an Assistant Respiratory Physiologist, previously bank HCA covering all wards, including A&E. I'm a single Mummy to a beautiful little boy, who has just turned four. He has been very poorly for the last three years so only now, I've been able to seriously start the ball rolling now that things are looking up a little and he is due to start school in September. My GCSE's were taken in 2002 and really aren't worth mentioning. I was a good girl no self esteem and bullied throughout upper school... blah blah.. No excuses. I did a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts to boost my confidence and it helped more than I could have imagined. I started a degree in Biology and Psychology but had to leave before the end of the first year due to ruptured appendix complications (trust it to he medical). I then worked as a Support Worker for adults with Autism, then as a HCA, had my son, started in Respiratory Medicine in January. It has really cemented my need to study medicine. Something I have wanted for the majority of my life but never thought I was capable of. I've worked in theatre, and shadow a lovely Consultant who really believes in me and has confirmed I have the knowledge, understanding and complete determination to do this. Sorry for the long story! If I went ahead and studied Chemistry and Biology, would this be enough coupled with my work experience to gain entry onto the 5 or 6 year prog...
