Fear of negative evaluation and intolerance of uncertainty: Assessing potential internalizing correlates of eating disorder-related clinical impairment and differences across diagnostic presentations
We examined relations between fear of negative evaluation and intolerance of uncertainty (core features of social anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, respectively) and ED-related impairment and potential diagnostic differences. We hypothesized that: (a) fear of negative evaluation and intolerance of uncertainty would be related to ED-related impairment, (b) the relation between fear of negative evaluation and impairment would be strongest among individuals with "binge-eating syndromes" (i.e., bulimia nervosa [BN], binge-eating disorder [BED]), and (c) the relation between intolerance of uncertainty and impairment wo...

Mental and physical health in children of women with a history of anorexia nervosa
In conclusion, a history of AN increases the risk of worse perinatal outcome of the offspring. Later on, in childhood and adolescence, psychiatric and physical morbidity may be overrepresented in the offspring of women with AN. (Source: European Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)

iPSC-derived models for anorexia nervosa research

Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAnorexia nervosa (AN) is a complex neuropsychiatric disorder with genetic and epigenetic components that results in reduced food intake combined with alterations in the reward-processing network. While studies of patient cohorts and mouse models have uncovered genes and epigenetic changes associated with the disease, neuronal networks and brain areas preferentially activated and metabolic changes associated with reduced food intake, the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms remain unknown. The use of b...

Continuity of care for children with anorexia nervosa in the Netherlands: a modular perspective
Conclusion: A modular perspective can be applied to explore the organization of outpatient care provision for children with anorexia nervosa. We specifically highlight gaps and overlap in healthcare provision, which in turn leads to recommendations on how to support the three essential parts of continuity of care: informational continuity, relational continuity, and management continuity. What is Known:• Care provision for children with anorexia nervosa requires a network of health care professionals from different organizations, as a result the organization and provision of care faces challenges. What is New:• Modular c...

Consenso del grupo de trabajo de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria de SENPE (GTTCA-SENPE). Evaluaci ón y tratamiento médico-nutricional en la anorexia nerviosa. Actualización 2023
Nutr Hosp. 2024 Feb 6. doi: 10.20960/nh.05175. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAnorexia nervosa (AN) is a multifactorial disorder. A possible role of the social network and the gut microbiota in pathogenesis has been added. Exogenous shocks such as the COVID19 pandemic have had a negative impact on patients with AN. The potential medical and nutritional impact of malnutrition and/or compensatory behaviors gives rise to a complex disease with a wide range of severity, the management of which requires a multidisciplinary team with a high level of subject matter expertise. Coordination between levels of care is necessary as wel...
