ASA ’s House of Delegates Event 2023
I was unable to attend today’s event as the delegate to ASA from my school because of some unforeseen events. Can anyone tell me what the event was about and if I need to get in touch with anyone? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

GE mini TEE
Interesting marketing. One of the selling points is no anesthesia. Case study is from Spain. Not sure how many US cardiologists want to spend their days being echocardiographer for structural interventions. As always, it would depend on reimbursement. 9VT-D Probe 9VT-D Probe www.gehealthcare.com https://www.gehealthcare.com/-/jssmedia/gehc/us/images/campaigns/9vt-d-probe/redesign/9vt-d-probe-brochure.pdf?rev=-1 (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cedars Sinai Anesthesiologist Spills the Beans
Link to full post here This money hungry, VIP catering institution would run over any employee in the pursuit of a loose dollar on the floor while clapping for the “healthcare hero”. This became ever apparent in the management of the Anesthesiology department at Cedars Sinai when they decided to renegotiate the contract of their 100+ anesthesiologists much to chagrin of all employed. This supposed academic institution which prides itself on the label is anything but an academic... Click to expand... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cardiac Fellowship from Community Program
Hello, I am an intern at a relatively new community program interested in cardiac fellowship. What are some things that I can do to put myself in position to be a competitive applicant in 3 years' time? We have had fellowship matches from my program, but I want to ensure that I am taking the right steps as early as possible. Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Envision emerges from bankruptcy
Envision reorganizes, plans to emerge from bankruptcy in October Dallas-based Envision Healthcare confirmed plans to split with AmSurg and reorganize, eliminating 70% of company debt. Envision aims to emerge from bankruptcy b www.beckershospitalreview.com I really do not understand why the bond holders and whoever has a real steak in the bk proceedings would agree to let envision wipe out all their debt. Essentially do what GM motors did when the emerge from BK. The “bad envision “ with the debt stays behind in BK. The “good envision” wit...

Payment Processing Fees
I just listened to this podcast on white coat investor and found out that there are companies that "facilitate" electronic payments to physicians but unlike Visa or Mastercard that take 1-3% or so from merchants, these guys are taking up to 16% before the money even gets to your office. I also found out that the insurers use ghost codes to decrease "payments" to people who don't provide sedation (such as family doctors) which gives them justification to decrease payments to... Disgruntled anesthesiologist
Saw this post on Reddit. Confessions of a Cedars Sinai Anesthesiologist: behind the sterile curtainAs an anesthesiologist, we are commonly faced with a complex balancing act of managing multi-faceted patients, personalities and ever changing dynamics both in and outside the operating room. We face inquisitions from patients and surgeons alike to our clinical prowess and validity, often dismissed and blamed for all the ongoings in the ingrained hospital culture and... When patient is intubated and spontaneously breathing on manual or minimal PSV how many TOF twitches does that equate to ?
This is probably a stupid question, but I cannot find an answer online or in textbooks. My attending made it seem like if a patient is breathing on their own they have at least 2/4 TOF ? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Three female doctors sue L.A. County, alleging it ignored complaints about an abusive boss at Harbor-UCLA hospital
I came across an interesting article today. It seems this ortho surgeon has been the subject of three lawsuits now. Beyond this one there was a vascular surgeon who won a jury verdict against the county for retaliation linked to him, plus a fired ortho resident has an active lawsuit (she alleged very similar conduct): Three female doctors sue L.A. Cirrhosis and Local Anesthetics
What considerations do you take when doing injections on cirrhotic patients? Use lido with epinephrine? Any precautions? Tried looking in literature but couldn't find much except to pay careful attention to dosing. Looking at doing MBB/RFA. LFT's wnl. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Board certified
I’m almost scared to ask this question. What if you don’t become board certified in pain. Can you still practice pain? How many years can you go from fellowship until you need to be certified? I’m boarded in anesthesiology but not pain yet. Thanks in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
