molar pregnancy
Just curious, how urgently do you guys do these cases ? I'm trying to find some guidelines recommendations in relation to timing and urgency of procedure but not seeing much. I started thinking about it because had gyn calling in middle of the night wanting to do D&A for molar pregnancy. bhcg~117k, otherwise vitals normal, labs normal, not bleeding, just have nausea and mild pain. is it really THAT urgent? Anyone know of any guidelines for timing/urgency? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UCSF vs USC vs UTSW anesthesiology residencies
I have been blessed with multiple anesthesiology interviews at some great programs. I am having trouble with my rank list and am wondering if you would be able to share your opinions. I have family in Southern California and my ideal location for training would be close to them. After residency training I could see myself moving to Texas to start my career. I have heard the advice to complete your residency training in the location you want to end up. But I have also heard that private... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Take Care of Maya Trial
‘Take Care of Maya’: Jury find Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital liable, awards damages in over $200M case After eight weeks of arguments and testimony, jurors have reached a verdict in the $220 million case against Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital that was the premise of the Netflix documentary ‘Take Care of Maya.’ www.fox13news.com This verdict is really out of hand, IMO. Almost $300MM considering the facts of the case (and that the trial judge disallowed any evidence of medical child abuse). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Applying backup with no desire to do backup speciality
So I am an ok candidate applying anesthesia (pass for step/level 1, 240s step 2, one remediation in preclinical, 1 honor 3rd year, 4 sub Is). I was advised to apply a backup. I applied to 15 IM programs and have a few interviews already in both specialties. Problem is I have no desire to do IM. I have an interview on Monday and I can’t even think of a reason why I would ever want to do it. Should I just withdraw and go all in with anesthesia? Im going to have to lie about why I’m interested... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

EP lab
Busy hospital with multiple EP labs. Sick patients...obviously. Two main patient types cause some concern. Morbidly obese 300+ pounders with big beards and known difficult airways. The others are young drug abusers with EFs of 5-10%. In both populations, keeping them immobile and spontaneously ventilating for 4+ hours is difficult. EP Docs insist on "mac" for pretty much everything outside of Afib ablations, mitraclips, and watchman procedures. Slow proceduralists so we can be in the case... SF Match for CT anesthesia fellowship
I am having trouble determining whether official USMLE and COMLEX score reports need to be sent to me via email (i.e purchased) from NBME/NBOME to upload to my SF match application. Or can I just download my score report in pdf format from the NBOME website and upload it to my online application. Pretty much do I need to buy an "official" transcript/report or can I just upload my score report. Sorry it is sort of confusing, but the SF match website does not specify. Thank you (Source: Student Doctor Network)
