Antiarrhythmic drugs for pharmacological cardioversion of atrial fibrillation and sex differences: Insights from the CANT II Study
CONCLUSION: Female patients with AF have different clinical profiles but similar efficacy and safety of AADs as compared to male participants. Propafenone has significantly lower efficacy in men, which requires further investigation.PMID:37997824 | DOI:10.33963/v.kp.97392 (Source: Kardiologia Polska)

Life cell imaging of amiodarone sequestration into lamellar bodies of alveolar type II cells
In this study, we used live cell imaging of primary rat alveolar type II cells to show that amiodarone specifically accumulates in large amounts in lamellar bodies, the surfactant storage organelles. Fluorescence imaging and correlation, and colocalization studies combined with confocal Raman microscopy identified these organelles as a major target for sequestration. Accumulation was rapid, on the order of a few hours, while storage was much more persistent. Partial uptake was observed in chemically fixed, dead cells, or cells treated with bafilomycin A1. Not only was uptake pH dependent, but intraluminal pH, measured with...

Combination of Rivaroxaban and Amiodarone Increases Bleeding in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation
CONCLUSION AND RELEVANCE: The combination of rivaroxaban and amiodarone increased the risk of bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation, especially clinically relevant nonmajor and minor bleeding. Physicians prescribing rivaroxaban and amiodarone together should be concerned about an increase in the risk of nonmajor bleeding.PMID:37960871 | DOI:10.1177/10600280231211306 (Source: The Annals of Pharmacotherapy)
