Headaches and Muscle Cramps
Many CF warriors experience chronic headaches. I have not yet heard from any doctors a clear and reasonable explanation as to why we have the headaches. My suspicion is that CF is not directly the cause of the headaches, but all the stuff we do and go through as a result of CF can point to several culprits. All I can contribute to this issue is my own experience. I have gone through periods of time with continuous headaches (if I don’t medicate the headache) and periods of time with absolutely no headaches. By the process of elimination, I have come to some conclusions. Due to CF causing a rapid depletion of vit...

inquiry about graduate entry UK programs - admission requirements
Hello all, I've been trying to convince myself to forget about my hopes for medical school for quite sometime due to the cGPA I've acquired during my undergrad at a Canadian university (~3.2) but I can't seem to let it go and so I would like to kindly ask any of you readers to "diagnose" me and assess my chances of getting into medical school in the UK. Being a clinical researcher has always been my goal. I'm a graduate student in a research intensive immunology program at a leading university - which I'm doing very well in at the moment During my four years of undergraduate studies in cell and developmental ...

Natural Rinse Agent in Dishwasher for Cleaning Nebulizer Parts
Has anyone considered how the rinse agent (like Jet-Dry) in the dishwasher remains on our CFers nebulizer parts? We stopped using a rinse agent, and all our dishes now have soap spots. We currently rinse the soap off the nebulizer pieces, but I am now considering using a natural rinse agent. However, I'm not sure if that substance will contaminate the lungs. Has anyone done any research on this topic? We're pretty sold on washing nebulizer parts in the dishwasher since it is easier. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Asthma, Allergies and Green Forum)

Food Allergies - I am becoming allergic to EVERYTHING!
About 5 years ago I started having very loose stools, stopped absorbing my food and had a burning irritated stomach. I started noticing a correlation with milk and eventually figured out that I had a dairy allergy. Once I cut dairy out of my diet the burning in my stomach went away, I began absorbing my food again and everything went back to normal. Since then I have slowly but surely become allergic to just about all foods including rice, soy, chicken/egg, beef, pork, fish/seafood, wheat, nuts, potatoes etc. I am basically living on two foods now, corn and quinoa. I can also have some green vegetables such as broccoli, ...

I wanted to know if any of you know an excellent asthma specialist in the new york city area. The cf clinics can only do so much with severe asthma issues. Need to have someone who really understands asthma and all it's complications. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Asthma, Allergies and Green Forum)

Allergies with low IGE
My scratch are positive for a large number of allergies, but my bloodwork shows my IGE level is very low. My daughter has the same allergy and blood test results. My sinus CT scan shows lots of mucus from allergies too. So does anyone else have this? I have been reading about non-iGE mediated allergies and that they are treated with mast cell stabilizers such as Zyrtec and Chromolyn Sodium. I found Nasalcrom nose sprey over the counter with Chromolyn Sodium as the active ingredient. I tried the Nasalcrom nose spray and Zyrtec and they seem to be working. I am not a medical person, so if anyone has experience with th...

Reactions to Ceftazidime
Hi, I'm new here and have never posted before, so I hope I'm doing the right thing?!?!? My daughter (16yo with CF) was in hospital last week having IV Ceftazidime and Tobramycin to treat pseudomonas. I was wondering if anyone has had a reaction to Ceftazidime? She has previously had other medications, but this time and last year when she was in, she seemed to have a reaction of some sort, to something. The doctors suggested it to be a viral thing, "perhaps she caught a bug just before coming in to hospital". However, every other time she has been admitted to hospital she's felt fine, it's only been these las...
