ABPA and Xolair
Hi folks, Does anyone have issues with Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) ? Do you do anything for it, any luck with treatment? I just got off Prednisone after being on it for the past 20 months. At the start of 2014 I had a CF-related decline in PFT that I was unable to really bounce back from after 3 weeks of IV antibiotics. They noticed my IGE level was over 6000 (normal is around 100 I believe), and had been for several months. They tried prednisone and voriconizole (one of the only anti-fungal medications, I've been told) but my IGE only dropped to around 1500-1000. Next the docs sent me over to alle...

Recently diagnosed at 31
Hi! My name is Krystin, I'm 31 with two kids and here's my story. December 2012, I was at the beach enjoying myself in a hot tub. Two days later, I started coughing. Productive coughing. I assumed it was bronchitis and went along with my life for 6 weeks assuming it would go away on its own and not wanting unnecessary antibiotics. I broke a rib coughing, so it forced me to the doctor. Diagnosed with bacterial bronchitis and sent home with antibiotics. Nothing. Called the doctor telling them the cough was still present. Stronger antibiotics. Nothing. New doctor, new visit and given 2 antibiotic injections in my booty, stero...

Possible CF (input please)
Hello all. I am a 20 year old male, and was recently tested via sweat test for CF. I received the call five days ago that I did not have CF due to the results, but I am not fully confident (as online research has led me to discover that in some, albeit very few, cases, the sweat test may produce normal results despite the patient having CF). Here's why I am not fully confident: 1) I was diagnosed with asthma at a young age--however, this asthma is so mild that it has a negligible impact on my life as of now. I need to take two puffs of my albuterol inhaler MAYBE once a week, if not less than that. I do not usually need i...

Mom/Son with CF Have a Chance to Win- Please Vote!
Hi there, My son, with CF, now 18, had always received unhelpful nutritional advice from our CF docs. Through the years, I have found what works for him and helped him be a healthy weight (no dairy, good fats, and more). from this journey, we have developed dairy/gluten/soy free brownies packed with nutrient dense hemp that have been a huge hit and we have made it into a business, helping others with food allergies have good, healthy treats to enjoy. we are now in the running to win $100,000 from Chase. I am sure everybody out there can relate to how needed that money is. I have raised my son alone, ex-husband never paid...

Hi All. Throwing this out there to see if anyone can help. Still no CF diagnoise.
Hi Everyone. Well, I had a ambry Pancreatitis Genetic panel done. Any one else, with pancritis problems, Cf etc, which know of theses mutations. G576A, (likely pathogenic) And R668C. (Variant of unknown Significance) Got as far as a CRMS Diagnose. Told neither of these are CF causing. I don't get this as I am still in limbo, The two high sweat test> 84, and 90. To make this short as I always write a book here, I do have good FVC. Low DLCO. (which I think is heart related) Chronic Asthma, Chronic Sinusitis, Allergies, Chronic Bronchitis, Failure to thrive, malnusorption disorder (most all my life) Chronic Pancri...

Nasal Filters - Shark Tank
I was thinking to buy for my baby with 1 year and a half a nasal filters to avoid being contaminated. Someone uses the "Defense Nasal Screens" nasal filters Shark Tank? Those filters are effective? It really works? By using, we are free of germs, virus and bacteria? It's hard to breathe with it? The airflow decreases? I know that they are selling in medium size. It can be adapted to a baby? thank you Tania (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Asthma, Allergies and Green Forum)

severe asthma
Anyone else here have severe large airway chronic asthma? Its really kicking my butt right now to the point where I can barely take any inhaled meds since I am so hyperreactive. Any suggestions? IgE is normal, neutophils quite high. FEV 58%, but O2 hanging out between 92-95, drops to 88/89 during exertion, around 90/91 for sleep. Two years ago w/only mild asthma I ran a 10K with this same FEV. Now stairs wind me badly. Please help! Prednisone helps, but only a high dose and dont want to be on it for years. Docs are suggesting low dose methyltrexate. Any experience with this, anyone? (Source: Cystic Fibrosis A...

Could I have CF?
I've had what has been diagnosed as horrible allergies my entire life. My nose is completely clogged 365 days a year, to the point where I basically can't breathe through it. What's worse is I have this horrible post nasal drip. It's so thick and copious that I feel like I am constantly choking. I'm coughing and sniffling literally every second of every day. Although I do exercise, I have a hard time breathing when I run. I often feel like I can't breathe deeply enough. I feel like I constantly have a sinus infection, I've had probably 2-3 a year for as long as I can remember. I've had my lung capacity tested before to see...

just a question
my 15 daughter developed a nasal obstruction, had septoplasty and the doctor reported that my daughter had the worst adhesions he had ever seen. Within 2 months the adhesions were back, she developed a saddle nose, and she was snoring again. The lining of her nose is lined with sores and bleeds everyday, and she coughs all of the time. My daughter was sent to a Rhinologist who took one look at the lining, said it was allergies and she needed reconstruction. We were sent down the hall to plastics where the doctor took one look at her nose and said that he felt like she had a vasculitis called Wegeners Granulomatosis. She...

momma's intuition
hi all! i'm sure you have a lot of concerned momma's on here asking questions about their babies symptoms. sorry to be another one, but i need some feedback... my son is 20 months old and has had recurrent bouts of wheezing and coughing since the age of 5 months. we have had 2 ER visits and 1 hospital stay (for the flu) last february. at that time a chest x-ray was performed which was read as "bronchiectasis". a follow up scan over a month later once he had recovered from the flu was unchanged. i am a physician assistant and know that bronchiectasis is not a normal or incidental finding. based off of my own res...

F508 and I148T/possible CF symptoms?
Hi, I'm new to this forum. Does anyone have this combination? My DS (8) has these 2 mutations, which we knew about since birth when he tested positive in his newborn screening but negative in his sweat test (I carry the F508 and my husband carries I148T). We were told that he may develop atypical CF and be infertile but he has never had a follow-up appointment as the reports were buried in his pediatrician's file. Fast forward 8 years...our DS has been to many specialists (neurologists, allergists, endocronologist, psychiatrists) for issues ranging from eyes rolling in the back of his head to anger management & anxiet...
