DO applying Allergy/Immunology-Need help
Hi everyone, I am a USDO PGY1 at an upper mid-tier academic IM residency and will be applying A/I eventually. My question is do I need to take USMLE Step 3 in addition to Level 3? My stats are mid 250s for both USMLE Step 1 and 2, 6 publications and have strong allergy mentors. I am wondering since most Allergy programs are at strong well-known reputable academic centers will I need to take both Step 3 and Level 3 to be considered for these programs? My goal is to go to Stanford, Duke... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Considering Allergy and Immunology fellowship, would like more information?
Hey everyone, I'm a PGY-2 in IM and I am considering doing Allergy and Immunology fellowship. WCUCOM vs. UIWSOM
Hello! I have to pay my seat deposit for one of these two schools by December 14 and was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on either of them! Right now I am most interested in internal medicine and later down the line doing a cardiology residency, which I know is very competitive. I'm also interested in Allergy and Immunology. UIWSOM pros: - in-state (closer to home) - more urban location, I am a city person but don't want to compromise my education to live in a city. - has their own... Allergy/Immunology Job Market: Post-COVID
I want to build on the discussion in a prior thread Allergy/Immunology with a few more detailed questions Thread started off on a pretty bleak note: "Job market has collapsed, offers rescinded, revenue sharply contracted in existing practices due to COVID" For this new crop of graduating fellows and first years, what does the job market look like now? Those starting new jobs this summer, how was the search? More detailed questions if they get your thoughts going: Location... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UPenn vs. Columbia
Hi friends, I am deeply blessed by my options and therefore struggling lol. I would love advice from anyone, especially those with experience balancing partners with medical school (and the sacrifices possibly implied). My partner and I have been together for ~5 years and plan on marrying at the end of M4. Medicine-wise, I am interested in allergy/immunology and in surgery. For my future, I hope to match to MGH or related Boston hospital. UPenn (Perelman) | cost: 30,000/year Pros... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Tips for matching in California after doing medical school elsewhere
Currently in medical school in the Midwest, but want to come back home to California for residency. Other than doing well in medical school (good clinical grades, good step 2 score, research publications), is there anything I can specifically do to increase my chances for matching in CA? Ideally Northern California? If this varies somewhat by specialty, here's what I'm considering: Neurology Neurosurgery Radiology Endocrinology Hepatology Allergy/immunology Pulmonary critical care... Possibility of Allergy/Immunology
Hello! Incoming OMS1. I know I have a long time to decide, but I was just wondering how feasible it is to match IM and obtain an allergy/immunology fellowship. I was also curious as to what I would need to do (loosely) to get there. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to find research grant for residents?
I’m currently a resident and about to transition to the ABIM research pathway with a fellowship in allergy/immunology. That said, previous people in my program have only latched onto faculty members T32 grants for their research grants. I’m wanting to get started early on submitting my own research grants but my mentors have only mentioned K08 awards to me but then they specified that I can’t apply for these until the last year of my fellowship/research year since it is a bridge into being a... Chances for dermatology after a pediatric residency..
I am currently a PGY 2 in paediatrics and I am very interested in pursuing a dermatology residency after the completion of my pediatric residency. Research WITHIN a broad specialty
If I am interested in a broad field like internal medicine lets say or GS, both of which have so many different subspecialties within, would it look better for a med student to have research in one specific subspecialty (like multiple pubs or projects on cardiology) to demonstrate a specific goal and your passion for it? Or would having research in lets say GI + cardio + allergy/immuno (all of which are subspecialties of IM) be equally valued for residency? Also I know any research is good...
