Significance of Nasopharyngeal Cavity Area in Individuals with Adenoid Hypertrophy Assessed by Cone Beam Computed Tomography
Conclusion: The S can be used as an important imaging index for diagnosing and evaluating the severity of AH in minors. When a child exhibits clinical signs of AH but A/N ≤ 70%, it is difficult to determine whether surgical intervention is necessary. At this time, CBCT is required to measure the nasopharyngeal cavity's size. When S ≤ 130 mm2, the patient should actively undertake surgical treatment.PMID:37997343 | DOI:10.1177/01455613231212837 (Source: Ear, Nose and Throat Journal)

Long ‐term follow‐up of unresectable adenoid cystic carcinoma of the trachea and bronchus treated with high‐dose proton beam therapy: A report of two cases
This report showed two cases of unresectable adenoid cystic carcinoma of the trachea and bronchus that received definitive proton beam therapy with concurrent chemotherapy. Proton beam therapy can deliver high doses (74  Gy [relative biological effectiveness]) safely to unresectable adenoid cystic carcinoma tumors and may contribute to long-term local control and overall survival. AbstractAdenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the trachea is a rare disease that is slow growing and has a risk of distant metastasis. The standard treatment for ACC of the trachea is surgery, but this tumor is often unresectable. In definitive rad...

Adenoid cystic carcinoma metastatic to the kidney: a series of 10 patients emphasizing unilateral presentation and long time interval from primary diagnosis
AbstractAdenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) metastasis to kidney is rare. We identified 10 patients with metastatic AdCC in multi-institutional collaboration. Core needle biopsy was the most common specimen (n = 6). Patients were predominately female (n = 7) with a median age of 48 years (35–62 years). The most common primary location of the AdCC was head and neck (n = 6, among them parotid gland = 4), followed by lung (n = 2), breast (n = 1), and vulva (n = 1). Median lapse between primary AdCC and renal metastasis was almost 13 years (154 months, range 1–336 months). Moreover, all but one...

Reply: Reported experience of full-circumferential tracheal replacement with cartilage-reinforced forearm free flaps
We thank Sarsam and colleagues1 for their comments about our article2 reporting our experience of extended resection for bronchial and tracheal adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). In this correspondence addressing our article, they were concerned by the outcomes after full-circumferential tracheal replacement (FCTR) with cartilage-reinforced forearm free flaps.
